The latter simply changes the colour, while Cube produces mana without restrictions. Remember, Cube is only doubling the *type* of mana, not "type and restrictions".
I got a question for a card ruling So kitsa (the new otter card) has 2 cost and tap to copy spell that you control and then what if we use dramatic reversal? We just tap all mana stones like sol ring arcane signet etc and use kitsa copy dramatic reversal is it infinite mana? Or it just not possible
Yeah that works. While Dramatic Reversal is on the stack (and as long as Kitsa has power 3 or greater), you can tap Sol Ring and 1 other mana rock. Use the Sol Ring mana to activate Kitsa and copy Dramatic Reversal. And you now have infinite mana 🙂
Yet another example of how WotC's contrived "layers" BS tangles up the game in pseudo-computerized confusion. The straightforward alternative is to simply apply each card's continuous effect to what's written (or errata'ed) on each card it affects. In this case, Marvin, Murderous Mimic ignores Sakashima the Imposter, since Sakashima does not have an activated ability. Then, when Sakashima enters play as a copy of Marvin, Sakashima appropriates Marvin's abiility to mimic other creatures' activated abilities, but ignores Marvin himself, since Marvin has no activated abilities either.
@QuicksilverSG Sakashima's original text is a replacement effect. They also enter with an activated ability. Triggered abilities use the stack and are denoted by the words "When", "Whenever" and "At". Not having a firm grasp of the wider rules does make Layers look a bit unintuitive at times, but they ensure all 26k+ plus cards all work together without any exceptions. There is no combination of them that breaks the game and that's mostly thanks to Layers.
@@attackoncardboard The current errata for Sakashima tha Imposter reads: "You may have Sakashima the Impostor enter as a copy of any creature on the battlefield..." That is clearly an Enter-the-Battlefield ability, not an activated ability, since it has no activation cost. Marvin, Murderous Mimic can only acquire other creatures' activated abilities, not their ETB abilities.
@@QuicksilverSG 614.1c Effects that read “[This permanent] enters with . . . ,” “As [this permanent] enters . . . ,” or “[This permanent] enters as . . . “ are replacement effects. 603.1. Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an effect. They are written as “[When/Whenever/At] [trigger condition or event], [effect]. [Instructions (if any).]” "it has “{2}{U}{U}: Return this creature to its owner’s hand at the beginning of the next end step.”" <-- That last part is an activated ability.
I thought that it would gain and lose flying, and just return to its default so a naturally flying Kitesail (somehow lmao) would stay flying, but the actual rules do make sense and are definitely better for sorting out edge cases
@@attackoncardboardWell for starters you don't even know my nationality so you have no idea how I'd pronounce it And secondly you have no idea how I'd pronounce that. Granted that was only one point, but it was such an important distinction that I felt it needed mentioning twice.
@@attackoncardboard Accents =/= pronunciation. You could easily say mana without stressing the a and your accent wouldn't change. You could also choose not to get so tight over such a silly joke.
That is how you pronounce mana in the South of the UK. And it's only a joke when both parties are laughing, otherwise you're being an asshole ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Doubt it. It would be a disgrace if WotC unbanned them after what happened to the RC. Those individuals would then know "death threats = get what I want".
@@attackoncardboard People are talking about spinning off CEDH as its own thing, too. Maybe not WoTC running it, but if there are enough players geting on board the demand will go back up. Ironically, this has driven demand for the lotus pretty hard just now and people are buying a lot of them. With that said, even though I hate CEDH I'm all for it. It means I'm less likely to play someone with that power level of a deck.
So the magas humility thing does not care about timestamps? That part threw me off. I’d like to think I could keep up with this stuff but this is fairly confusing
The rules on brawl are somewhat washy. the comprenehsive rules say it's a 60 card format, the format page on the wizards website says 100 cards. the rules say construced based on standard legal cards, but the page says it has to be cards that are on arena. plus there is historic brawl (which i think they are refering to on the article on the website), in addition to regular brawl (which is what the comprehensive rules are refering to). brawl is weird.
The original wording was clear for anyone who passed 3rd grade english. They should have just made it so you can only declare a legal value for X, which then must be paid afterwords. For example, to declare to pay 5 for X in torrent of hailfire, you need to have mana for the BB, and then 5 additional mana that can be spent to pay the 5, or the ability to generate that mana through mana abilities, and then that mana is immediately paid toward the casting cost of torment of hailfire. This is how X values should have been paid before. I don't know why we have a pointless, archaic mess of a casting system. WoTC needs to sit down and simplify this sh*t
What does "Protection from Everything" mean? Now how did you derive that answer? I bet you needed some knowledge of the MTG rules for that. Almost like they set a precedent. If Wizards are going to change how they word and structure cards, it needs to be communicated officially. There's no room for ambiguity in MTG.
