The cutovers look like the perfect place for moose, bear and lots of berries! Great video brother. The Drone adds a nice touch…. Going to unbox mine very soon. Chat again real soon. Loggers School Road is out by Gallants? Corner Brook?
I had a scanoe with 2.5HP Honda motor….use to trout fish in the pond next to the old Scout Park. You must know Jeff and Phylis Young. Good friends, however Phylis passed away recently.
Yes i know jeff and Phyllis, I've also lived in black duck back about 20 years ago, looking forward to moving back there when we build! There's some nice trout in that pond and the pond itself is pretty big
@@offgridadventurers Yes, it’s a BIG pond. Our son spend many weekends with friends from Black Duck Sidling. One, his name was A.J…..He lived with his grandmother.
Mr. Garry here, coming along for The Off-road Adventure. I have been on those back roads a few times! Lived in the Xing for 12 years and hunted and fished around Black Duck Siding!
Where not aloud to cut spruce for firewood in Nfld and only cut a small area for wood each season but the government can destroy what forest is around in Nfld and there,s nothing wrong with it. Lot good wood going to waste like smaller stuff what where only suppose to cut and been destroyed in the dirt and debris. Anyway great drone footage just the same. You done a awesome job with it. You had a great day. No animals on the go there. Figured it be a few grouse. Do you think Partridge Berries will grow there in couple years or so. If it was burned woods it would but that cleared cut I don,t imagine it will. Guess you will no if you live around the area and go back there in couple yrs. Anyway take care.
Mr. Garry did you teach school over there years ago ? I had a uncle that thought in Stephenville for years now he retired nice few years ago actually Nelson if you grew up in Stephenville you may know him too Jesse Fudge ? Also had another uncle that was a fireman at the Airport Bill Lilly
@@tuckerandi We lived in Stephenville Crossing. I was a principal at a school in St. Fintans and a school teacher in MacKays. Out West or in Bay St. George’s South. Mrs. Betty worked at a Photography shop in the Stephenville Mall and later at Coleman’s and a few other stores.
They are making some great moose hunting areas with those cutovers.........I have the DJI 2 and did the same as you with the cheap ones with the same results......too funny...........
@codraven57 yes those cheap drones just don't cut it lol, they all claim to be great but not the case. I do like the new trails opening up but at the same time it's sad to see the clear cutting.
Quick question, when you drop your tires down to 12 lbs is that hard on the tires ? I'm just curious lol. Great video again my buddy some scenery there. I have a DJI drone too but seldom use it i know i should, just by looking at your excellent dronage really adds to the video. Great video my buddy hope you have an awesome day
Only danger to your tire of low pressure is heat........if the pressure gets low enough and your speed gets high enough you will generate heat and that is what will kill your tire.......pressure + speed + load.......all plays into it......
@tuckerandi exactly what codraven said. And when were off roading we do 20km/h tops which don't generate enough heat to hurt anything. The difference in the comfort of the ride is unbelievable. Also better traction and saves on wear and tear on front end components. And yes Garry you should use your drone sometimes, the footage is awesome! I just do short video clips when flying so there's less editing. Have a great day buddy!
@@offgridadventurers makes sense , I was asking because I didn't know it's something that I wasn't familiar with and figured I'd ask someone who knew lol. I no doubt knew you would know and now I know too lol. Keep on off roadin my buddy looking forward to your next adventure
Now ask me the rate of and OC48 or how tie in an MX80 to and Fiber network and increase the bandwidth for increase internet speed what's causing high VSWR or RTWP readings on a cell system then I'm adding or reducing air like a balloon 🎈 on a hot day lol, now that makes sense the hotter the day the tighter the balloon, the faster you drive the hotter the tire gets the tighter the balloon 🎈 😜.
@@offgridadventurers with a good pair of binoculars you could see the markers up there also Maybe not so much now as it seems to be grown over judging by your recent video
@DarrellWellsDifferentStuff it's quite the spot, too bad the cameras don't do it justice. You ever wanna plan a trip in there let me know and we can meet up!
That was an old prospecting spot from years ago,go further up the brook and you would've found a broken shovel i found around 7 years ago!! I put it in a tree!! 😊
Geat trip my buddy , that grouse at 7:51 had quite the spread on the go lol, 9:36 looks like someone had a lean too built and a little wooden fire wall to reflect the heat. Quite the lake there , as usual you got some awesome drone footage 17:52 what a catch LOL Hope you have an an awesome ride.
@tuckerandi yes that grouse was with another one and they were mating....Oops lol, and yes your right about the lean to, makes total sense. If your ever up for a trip there let me know Garry, it's a good trail and you wouldn't be disappointed! I wouldn't need much of an excuse to go back 😂
Those little oil slicks are from bog iron vikings used it to make their blades. I also have pictures somewhere of a c54 crash in the anguille mtns near codroy pond
@stevengrant2687 oh that's really interesting buddy thanks for the info! And we're really wanting to get to that plane crash in the anguille mountains but no luck finding the plane. Some pics would be great to see too!
Happy birthday 🎂 my buddy , that was definitely a neat looking cake. Definitely looks like another old plane crash there my buddy , be nice to get details on it. Like you pointed out doesn't make sense to br part of the other wreck All interesting thats for sure. Reg can go, and tough too lol. Hope you have an awesome week my buddy.
7:03 Looks like the intake on top of the engine nacelles. There was one above each radial engine just aft of the cowling on top of the nacelle and running back towards the wing.
3 October 1946. American Overseas Airlines Douglas C-54 Skymaster (military transport version of DC-4), registration N90904 and called “Flagship of New England”, bound from New York to Berlin. 31 passengers (mainly family of U.S. service personnel) and 8 crew. It had four Pratt & Whitney R-2000-9 Twin Wasp 14-cylinder air-cooled radial piston engines. Weeks before, on 16 September 1946, a nearly identical Sabena DC-4-1009 (OO-CBG) crashed on approach to Gander on a flight from Brussels to New York City via Shannon and Gander. Twenty-seven were killed out of 44 aboard.
@@offgridadventurers Have you done the B-36 crash at Burgoyne’s Cove? That would be like a walk in the park compared to what you had with this one. It’s a good uphill hike, but the trail is cleared and well marked. Now if you crawl around in the tuckamore and trees on the slopes looking for pieces, you are into similar terrain as you experienced on the west coast. Safe adventuring my friend.
@sandhopper2010 that's the road we took at first, 2 hunters told us the road before the bridge was an easier route. You wouldn't know the exact coordinates by any chance would you? Would still like to get in there
Very cool to find all 4 radial engines.........nature has almost taken these pieces.............looks like a challenge........thanks for taking us along.
Just came across your video, what a view from up there and you did a great trek to get there, never knew about this spot, that was more incredible to find the old pieces on the side of the hill, wow, interesting, just checked out its history, thanks for sharing, what an adventure, +1like sub
@NatureInspiredSnipsnSnaps thanks! And yes in the history books it's said the plane was blasted and buried over the mountain side, but that's definitely not the case. I would imagine there's more at the bottom of the mountain also. Going back next summer for a better look!
Deadly with the pressure setting , I didn't think about less wear and tear on the front end , good tip, quite the drop there my buddy. Wow quite the view from up there, you guys definitely test the off road capabilities of your rigs lol. I'm out in the woods tonight with the dog decent signal now so got to watch your video while I wait to see if the norther light are going to show themselves. Awesome drone footage there too my buddy. You're definitely discovering that area and doing an awesome job displaying it for others to enjoy. Great compressor for sure. Hope you have an awesome week my friend
@tuckerandi thanks Garry buddy, yes the air pressure drop is amazing. Did you get to see the northern lights? Love seeing those too. And yes it's a good thing I have multiple trackers, keeps down on repair bills lol
@@offgridadventurers no luck on the Northern Lights stayed up until around 1230 the peak was supposed to be midnight so I guess they were a no show lol.
@@offgridadventurers In the original "rotary" engines of WWI (Not the Wankel rotary as used by Mazda and NSU, which was not a piston engine at all), the crankshaft was stationary and the engine cylinders spun like a propellor around the shaft. Radial engines looked similar, but the cylinders were static and didn't rotate. This plane was a C-54 Skymaster transport converted to a DC-4 airliner. They were powered by four Pratt+ Whitney 14-cylinder R-2000 twin row radials of 1,100hp.
@@Kingpoint oh really? I'll have to do some looking on Google about that. Always love learning about aviation history. The town I live in (stephenville, nfld) had an American air force base back in the 50s and there's alot of interesting history
Awesome that’s great to hear ! I’ve been meaning to hike into this one myself but I’m on the east side of the island so it’s a trot for me . I have been to all the other prominent ones on the island though and I’d imagine there’s more out your way too that would be worth seeing since the base was there
Likewise! I’ll take you up on that offer ! And if you’re planning on going to Argentia again I’ll show you some hidden gems , I’ve spent many an hour exploring that place too . Lots of crazy things hidden in the woods out there and lots and lots of bunker that are forgotten and hidden by nature reclaiming everything
Awesome, thanks for sharing that rugged hike!! 👍👍 I actually lived in Stephenville in the early 70's, but I don't remember any talk about this crash. Then again, i was pretty young. 🤪😅
@007tallguy it's a hell of a hike but was definitely worth it just for the scenery. It's a place that very few got to go to so figured it be nice to share a video of it. There's a few write ups on the crash on Google too !
Congrats, you were determined my buddy, and it paid off. Awesome piece of history thanks for taking us along. Awesome views from the top. Awesome number of parts you found have a great week my friend
A C-124 Globemaster ii was a 4-engined heavy lift aircraft. It was powered by a 4-row, 28 cylinder "corn cob" engine. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt_%26_Whitney_R-4360_Wasp_Major
Greetings from S.W. Ontario. Honestly, I first started watching you because of your Tracker. I've long appreciated the Chevy Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick and a very good pall has driven them from coast to coast. We just returned from a 6,300 km road trip to the Maritimes, but could not include NFLD and Labrador. Next year!
Excellent video. My Grand Mother was born in Chimney Cove. My brother in-law went in there around the same time. He showed me his pics. It’s nice to see it on video.
@AdventuresWithTodd that's awesome, always live hearing more about the places I go. I found it was a beautiful spot, we just hit it at a bad time cause the weather turned bad. Hopefully get to go there again next summer!
