In the Seventies, NF US went for industry, and NF Canada went for tourism. It happens that tourism brought investment and wealth for a while...but the common factor is that neither benefits the locals much. Profit is milked off to the investors, in either case. It's called capitalism.

I live in Upstate NY, and have been to the falls twice. The falls are nice. However, the towns surrounding it is pretty dirty and slum. It's no different than any other democratic ran city.

elizabeth lemire Niagara Falls Canada has poverty areas but isn't 1/2 as bad as the US side. If you've lived in both you know there is seriously no comparison.
