I've wanted to do a Norwegian cruise for years but it's just too far away for us, so it's really good to see it all on your videos. The scenery looks amazing.
I'm glad you like the ship. I've heard more bad comments than good about it. I was disappointed to see that they've moved away from the traditional Cunard styling. A lot of comments have been about the theatre being just like a movie cinema in any town. I tend to agree. Anyway, I've always wanted to do a Norwegian fiord cruise, so I look forward to your coming videos.
Hi Joan, I think the bad comments were two fold, one being from the traditionalists about the styling etc and two from those who clammered to get on one of the first sailing when clearly things still needed to 'bed in' as it were. We're probably more 'relaxed' about that dort of thing, there were certainly some elements that we found 'clunky' and poor, but others that were great...as you'll see later in the vlogs. Alison & Ian
Your clips capture the atmosphere in venues nicely. We're not cruisers; only like QM2 Soton-NY-Soton, mainly for dancing. Can't comment on theatre sight lines. We just dance every night. I'm always puzzled why some men find formal wear a chore. That's our other reason for QM2, next time I'll save on luggage by just taking formal wear for evenings, alternating black, navy and ivory tuxes for the two weeks. I get very few opportunities to wear them otherwise. My wife dresses up anyway.
I was on this cruise too. A very enjoyable cruise and whilst Anne is different to the other ships, there is nothing in my view that makes Anne anything other than a great ship. One of the highlights was ‘Noir’ though. If you’re on the ship, definitely go and see it.
We're on Queen Anne in October and like you have never cruised with cunard. It's nice to see you're thoughts on this cruise line having not done them before
Thank you so much for this nice overview. It helped us decide if we wanted the extra large balcony or just the normal one. I have sailed on Sapphire Princess, and loved the atmosphere and more classic design, so hoping we like Ruby, too.
Great video thank you! I think it's a great cabin. We always have a balcony cabin but we've booked an inside cabin on Queen Anne in August because I was desperate to see the new ship. We're in 7178 so I'm going to check the shape.
Hi. The cabin is advertised for up to 3 people so the sofa would be used as there was no bed from the ceiling that we could see. The sofa was only used to sit on in our cabin and we did not see it converted into a bed. Apologies as I can't be more specific. This wont be helpful to you on this occasion but we will take more note on future cruises
Thanks for the tour. Quite a few people are saying that there's not enough wardrobe space in the cabins. It didn't look too bad. The cabin would be too claustrophobic for me, but I know not everyone has that problem. I love the toiletries that Cunard provide. They are the best out of all the cruise lines.
Hi. This is an inside cabin towards the aft of deck 15. It is a different layout to most inside cabins. I looked up your cabin on cruisedeckplans.com and your cabin is mid ship and is a different shape. Hope you enjoy your cruise. She is a lovely ship
Love the camera work, and your lovely in depth video 😊We've booked the Sun Princess for the end of August and I'm so looking forward to going back to Santorini after more than 25 years. New subscriber here😊
Thanks for the kind words and for joining the growing gang Rebecca, glad to hear you'll be enjoying Sun Princess next year...you'll love the ship. Alison & Ian
My partner and I did the 7 nights Canary and Madeira cruise earlier this year in January (on the Azura) as it was a 30th birthday gift for myself. This was our first one so didn't know what to expect, other than reading reviews. I did read quite a few that slammed both the décor and food. All I can say is these people must have been snobs as the ship is beautiful! The interiors actually suit the ship, gold and light coloured woods. The food was incredible, even the buffet which we used from time to time but usually had dinner in the Sindhu and the Peninsula. It is also worth mentioning that the drinks were not that expensive, a large glass of relatively good wine being £6 odd. Though I had a small and it looked like a large. The drinks packages are expensive and compared to the prices of each drink, just isn't worth it unless you're not going to get off the ship and sit by the pool all day for the entire week which a lot of people did (I just don't get that). The entertainment was also a highlight for us and I usually hate holiday entertainment but Azura did not disappoint. I highly recommend going to watch the girl group - Queens of Rhythm who sing Motown and disco. Another point to mention is that P&O confiscate alcohol after the first day (you can go through airport duty free and each take on board 1 litre of alcohol and drink in your room). We went to Madeira and I bought a bottle, yet went through security which you have to do every time you get off, bags went through scanners and my bottle of Madeira wasn't taken off me . We didn't drink it as this was a gift to take home but found the security to be a bit relaxed. All in all, we enjoyed our cruise and would travel again with P&O.
Hi. No sadly the Santuary is currently for full suites only. In October there is a new category called Santuary collection which does include non suite cabins. It all seems rather confusing. The Cabana deck on 9 is for a specific type of Cabana mini suite. Again Princess have created confusion with the range of cabins and perks.
Princess cruises are fantastic. It's definitely worth exploring. The day we were in Santorini there were only a couple of ships and we were there till 10pm. Passengers could spread out their time in port. This was luck and not planning as you can never be sure how many ships will be in a port.
I am very much enjoying your adventures especially the Sun Princess as we are booked for October 2025 seems a long way off however your videos are very informative and will hekp us with planning please keep them coming
You so very welcome Karen and glad you found us! There are two more in this series...but next we'll be on Cunards Queen Anne! We hope you like the remaining Sun Princess ones. Alison & Ian
Great video thanks. Am in a suite in September on Sun. At breakfast do they include the complimentary Mimosa like they do for suite guests on other ships? Thx.
Hi. To be honest we did not notice if Mimosa was on the menu. However the staff were so accommodating that they would try and please all requests. Thank you for your kind comments
Hi , we met as we were both getting off the Sun Princess in Athens . Agree with everything you said about the ship. I dont think we mentioned that we too got an upgrade . Like you , we were originally booked in a suite in the 'bulge' ( Cabana mini suite) which we were quite happy with . I bidded for a Penthouse Suite at the same price point as you did but Princess came back to us and said 'no' but would we like a Sky Suite It cost us an extra £2400 in toal but we got one !(of the 4 Sky Suites on the ship) . Utterly unbelievable . The same floor area as our house. Amazing . We had a fantastic breakfast and a worldie eveining meal served in the cabin. I dont think we'll be cruising for many a year as anything else will be a complete downer..Were stil buzzing. . The full price would have been circa £3000 a day . A holiday of several lifetimes. I would be interesting to get under the skin of upgrades and how and why cruise companies offer / allocate uogrades ... i gert the idea its a combination of factors ...anyway , best wishes.
Hi Andrew, yes we remember well...hope the videos are bringing back some good memories for you both. The upgrade you bagged was immense, so really pleased you enjoyed it...hopefully it wont mean it'll be too long before you both get on another ship though. Alison & Ian
Great content. We have a cruise on the Sun Princess in the coming weeks. Just wanted to ask what type of camera gear you travel with for your videos. Trying to decide what to pack. We tend to use our iPhones and a GoPro on trips. Thanks
Hi, thanks for the kind words, we're fans of your channel as well, so that's very humbling to hear you like our videos. We use a combination of Go Pro 10 and DJI pocket 2. Have had both for 3 years so still going strong...keep up the excellent work. We're sure you'll love the ship. Alison & Ian
Good to see Santorini as I've never been there. The shows on board looked amazing. Sadly, our cruising days will be coming to an end as Cunard and P&O are pulling out of the Australian cruise market so unless you can afford to fly overseas to join a cruise, it won't be happening. Not many cruise lines come here, especially not from Fremantle. I'm glad I can experience travel by watching your adventures.
Hi Joan, we know that Carnival are looking to retire some of those ship though you may well find that others will replace them which should still mean that the opportunity to cruise will still be there without the need to fly. Alison & Ian
Hi Karen, it didn't look much from below...but when you're up there it's an adrenalin rush that's for sure...we both needed that drink afterwards! Alison & Ian
