This concert occurred on Thursday, January 31, 1974. There were no songs from Seventh Sojourn and that goes for other tour dates around that time. The day before, January 30, they played the same set at the Forum in Inglewood. Seventh Sojourn is my favorite Moody Blues LP. Jan 22, in Osaka, they did play When You're A Free Man.

Well I decided to buy a Sony ZV-E1 and see what that world is all about. I’m doing some charity work and wanted something really light with a great image, stabe, & AF and also ability to shoot great 1080P in addition to 4K. I just found the C100’ii’s AF too limiting for one man work capturing unscripted life, and want some auto functions to boot instead of the “Cinema World” of all things manual. Not sure if I’ll hang onto the C100 or liquidate it thru KEH or another broker. I’m not so disappointed in its codec or even 1080; just weary of missing focus or exposure and later finding a gaping hole in the project while editing. I guess more talent would help for shooting in dynamic situations with manual functions! How’s that C70 working out and do you use 1080 much and how does it look?
@Sutterjack
@Sutterjack 26 дней назад
The C70 is a respectable entry 4K camera but it's not perfect - #1 I MISS MY EVF. The camera is impossible to use outdoors without some external monitor or EVF. I'm just cutting my teeth right now and mostly shooting WideDR (my favorite on the C100) - have only shot a little CLOG2 but I can already tell it's much better than the CLOG1 in the C100. The C70 is a "odd duck" for sure, but it fills a niche like my style of run-and-gun. Still holding onto my C100 as a safety cam and for filming long events - still respectable HD. I plan to do a 6 month initial impressions review of the C70 soon.

@@Sutterjack Glad it’s working for you. I have a G60 and XA55 1” camcorders with 15X zoom and efficient 4K for long format, but need to decide on the C100’s future. I love it too much for what it almost is…. Gotta thin the herd at some point! I understand the EVF thing, but seldom use it. Haven’t done tons of outside work. Increasingly for outside moving work I’m using the iPhone and just bought a gimbal. Yes, I’m rapidly heading to the dark side!

@@Roger-oz2ct When a camera is so rugged and reliable with solid image quality like the C100, it's hard not to be attached and loyal. Certain cameras, both still and video, get a reputation for being workhorses and are hard to disrespect, no matter how dated their technology is.
@Roger-oz2ct

@@Sutterjack So I’ve been playing with the Sony ZVE1 (same sensor as FX3) and of course the sensor is newer, 4K, CLog3, better low light, 10bit 422….. the biggest gains over the C100 for me are autofocus, full frame, and the inclusion of some auto functions. Haven’t found using VND’s that huge of a deal, not as convenient as ND’s build in, but can dial them to partial settings. The file sizes aren’t too huge or hard to edit and if I need low light…the ISO 12800 is ridiculously useful. Love the C100, but have to agree with your vids conclusion it is obsolete. Still useful, just not worth the struggles given modern alternatives.

@@Roger-oz2ct So many good choices these days. I went with the C70 which was a big step up - but not perfect. I still kept my C100 as an emergency back up and streaming cam. You'll see my impression on the C70 soon after using it 6 months.

Enjoyed watching this again, and I think you've nailed it. I still contend if the AF was more modern, this would still be viable for a lot of work in 2024. If it had 10 bit, even more. I can live with the codec in exchange for the small files. I do find missing focus when recording myself or fast moving talking heads can be frustrating!
@Sutterjack
@Sutterjack 2 месяца назад
I wish I could say I love my C70 as much as my C100 but honestly I don't. Yes image 4K quality and codec choices are obviously much better, but I still feel like I'm "fighting" the camera with the layout of controls, have to supplement a EVF etc etc. I'm sure it will grow on me, but it's a weird camera. Even if the bit rate alone on the C100 were doubled it would be big improvement in image quality - very sorry that Canon abandoned this form factor

@@Sutterjack Given the release of the C400, they may be bringing more of this form back. Maybe still a C100Mkiii or C200 Mkii to be announced? 🤭 Hang in there with the C70; I hear it's one of the best images out there. Curious to hear how the HD images compare to the C100ii if you ever get a chance to test.

My family once had a gold claim outside of Fiddletown. Lots of pleasant memories, including finding an old gold mine at the top of the hill and panning for gold in the creek with Dad. I loved the sound of the wind in the pines and the woodpeckers in the morning. Had Indian grinding rocks in the field next to the cabin too! Fun times.

So you finally jumped in on the C70?! How’s the experience this far be the C100ii? Worth the wait?
@Sutterjack
@Sutterjack 2 месяца назад
So far the C70 has met or exceeded my expectations. I plan to do a 6-month impression video before long. The big thing I struggled with was lack of EVF as I shoot outside a lot. I found a couple cost-effective solutions. I still have one C100 M2 - people can mock me, but it's still a solid backup safety cam. The C70 is an odd duck is a lot of ways but it fits pretty well in my run-and-gun shooting style. The noise in the super-35 sensor at high ISO is starting to bug me, but the improved codec and detail makes up for it. I still think it should be a $3k camera, but I bought mine used at a good price.
@Roger-oz2ct
@Roger-oz2ct 2 месяца назад
@@Sutterjack I also have a C100mkii and you and I corresponded on my previous Tinkering channel. C100 is so close to perfect in so many ways, then I miss focus, exposure, or need some automatic assistance and I put it in the time-out-closet for a few months thinking I’ll never pick it up again. C400 release is interesting and C70’s are dropping in price in the used market. I’m still rocking the 1” sensor G60 and XA55 to good effect, which does a great job for my needs now.
@Roger-oz2ct
@Roger-oz2ct 2 месяца назад
Oh, meant to add, it’ll be interesting to see what you use for long format content like the cowboy musicals. I’ve heard the newer Canon’s don’t shoot 1080 very well (please confirm), and Incan’t imagine shooting 10 or 16bit 4K for 2-4 hours! Maybe the C100 still comes out for those situations?😀
@Sutterjack
@Sutterjack 2 месяца назад
I haven’t shot much 1080 with the C70 so I can’t say yet. The files also grade differently so definitely a learning curve

The Moody Blues in search of Lost chord, я был просто изумлен и, простите, контужен..., но, к счастью, выжил. Mike Pinder концептуальный музыкант этой изумительной британской группы, о творчестве Justin Hayward я скромно промолчу... (!) ❤
