I was driving past at a low tide and I thought it looked feasible to walk to it. Your video has been very useful. The mud can dry out on hot days. I've walked across some at Newnham that was rock hard.
Sometimes the pilots just tether the balloons if it's to gusty for the shape to fly, or if they are involved in the nightglow later on. It does fly though :)
I went to Biblins camp (a big wooden building by the bridge) with school and Bracelands with the scouts in the late 60's. We caused merry hell on the bridge as it didn't have guy stays and swung like a devil.
Not on that day, we waited as our pilot hadn't flown in the last 6 months, which was the recommendation from the organisers. We had a great flight the next day though, so be sure to check that video out!

Back in 1969 when I was 12 my mum and dad and Cubs and scouts from southend on sea essex went to the forest of dean and stayed at BRAISLANDS FARM which is cromwellian...we all went to the river and built our own bridge with ropes using canoes etc to build it .Ihave films which my dad did using 8mm cine camera .many good memories of this place. I'm 66 now and and seeing this video has brought it all back to me.❤

Going to a local hot air balloon festival this month and wanted some basic instruction to help me grab a few shots. as I don't have any contacts will probably not get near like you but this video gave me loads of hints on what to do and when. A very dangerous stretch of water hence the SARA rescue next to where you parked. You need to know tide times and weather conditions before you even consider attempting it .
