Her first album is so good (but then so are her other albums). Plants & Rags is one of my favorite songs on it even though I think it's probably not the favorite of a lot of other people lol
1. It's funny to hear that a 7 or 8 year old said their favorite song was a PJ Harvey song 2. How did you find out about Captain Beefheart? 3. Me and my parents did not like the same kind of music lol. Actually, I'm the only person in my circle of friends that is a fan of PJ Harvey
@@spmnh Well, yes it’s very strange that as a small child I was a pj Harvey fan. It’s funny to look back on. I found out about Beefheart when I was young from my parents who used to play him a lot. But then I rediscovered him last year when I was looking into music that inspired PJ
Nice video! I always thought her ""man hating" lyrics were actually kind of funny. She's a great lyricist. I have that same magazine! You got it for your birthday? I'm guessing that wasn't long ago. I actually got the magazine when it came out :). Anyways, glad to see that PJ Harvey has a younger generation of fans. I'm actually going to her show in a couple of weeks! I have some PJ Harvey videos on my account if you want to check them out!
@@spmnh Hi! Thank you for commenting. I also find her man-hating things very funny. A lot of her earlier work was very tongue-in-cheek and I think some people can’t look past that “man hating axe wielding cow” persona I will definitely have a look at your videos! Thank you
@@spmnh Yes, I got it for my birthday this year, my 15th back in March. The only thing I asked for was the magazine. I love hearing stories of how and when people bought merchandise when it came out.
What she dealt with sorta reminds me of what happened to Bob Dylan who is one of Polly's musical hero's. The media insisted on putting labels on him and his work, despite the fact he always rejected those labels. The voice of a generation and all that nonsense and totally failing to see other aspects in the music like humor. If Polly had been a man she would not have received so much attention for her sexually charged material, she actually pulled a lot more from the blues than anything happening during the 90's when she was making those albums
Yes 100%. She got so much stick for sexually charged music as if nobody had done that before. If she was a man she wouldn’t be compared to the likes of Björk and Tori because they sound nothing alike.
Hi, remember me? Year ago i subscribe into your channel and said i have become your fan. i don't know what happened in those year but you seem change a lot
