The CIA used Carson to try to discredit New Orleans District Attorney and Honorable Judge Jim Garrison when Jim was fighting to reveal that the CIA was behind the murder of JFK. When I saw that interview I lost all respect for Carson..
He never was an actor. He WAS insensitive. He seemed to scorn his guests if they didn't exactly conform with the most ntense normality. But his whole comedy depended on their being wacky.
Maureen did not do the bare-breasted scenes. Producers felt she didn't have the right attributes. In the underwater sequence, champion swimmer Josephine McKim doubled as Jane, with full frontal nudity. The shots were brief, but in the unedited film they are there.
I loved the Big Valley & remember watching it fondly. Barbara Stanwyck is always compelling to watch. My strongest memory of the Big Valley [which I actually thought of just a couple days ago] is how could a woman as strong, smart & capable as Victoria Barkley REPEATEDLY threaten the bad guys she was going to go to the law & endi up captured by the bad guys. I always figured (and I was young when I watched this show) that she was too smart to tell the bad guys what she was going to do & get kidnapped more than once. Unfortunately, she repeatedly blabbed at the bad guys & to me this wasn't consistent with her smarts. This isn't a complaint because I still loved the show, but that's my strongest memory of the show.
This was extremely common in the Pre-Code era this film was made in. Because of the large production budget (much more than most Pre-Code flicks), it was considered a box office disappointment--there was a growing backlash in Middle America to racy films like this, and this one was too visible to be ignored. I think one problem was that they weren't having an affair--they were living as man and wife (Apeman and Mate?), with no sense of sin (something Tarzan has no concept of)--but not married. This was not, btw, true of Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan and Jane, who were legally married in the second book of the series. This never happened in the MGM films, for some reason. Would have been easy enough to arrange for a missionary minister to show up there, make it legit, but they really wanted to push the envelope here, and it backfired a bit. The film still made major coin overseas. In subsequent installments, the budget was much lower, Jane's clothing much less revealing. And she never got pregnant-- because that would be openly admitting she and Tarzan engaged in the procreative act without benefit of clergy. Like it was even remotely in doubt in any of the films Weissmuller and O'Sullivan appeared in together. Say no more, nudge nudge.
Why do I remember George wendt kicking me under the table saying no as Danny davito's wife spit poison on my Face as I past out unconscious from big punches to the head in the booth next to the stairs entrance at the cheers bars? Biological warfare is not humor. Why was the "cheers" used as another hostage torture area for mason CIA criminals stealing my time and bank accounts? #chicagopolice #fbi arrest the criminals and there poisoning wives. Do not. Abuse me with stolen passports further. #whitehouse #kamalaharris #dod #pentagon Try Free college in no booze or people abuse #iran 🙏 compassion for dead actors
Everyone I know and most of his fans have already read his book: You Never Know: A Memoir. It's very interesting to read also about working with Sam Elliot.
When Ava Gardner passed away, Peck and his wife hired her housekeeper and adopted her pets. Peck, it appears, was actually a good guy who tried to live his Catholic faith without wearing it on his sleeve.
I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. On the Beach has its flaws, particularly in pacing and character development, but it also offers a unique perspective on the end of the world that few other films do. It’s not a perfect movie, but it’s worth watching if you’re interested in the genre. Just don’t go in expecting a blockbuster experience.
i was a private in the army's letterman general hospital in san francisco, when this movie came out. an air force major who was also a patient there asked me one day what i thought of this movie. figuring i was talking to a middle-class asshole, i just said "it was a strange sort of philosophy that those character expressed. His reply was, "that those characters demonstrated a lack of a philosphy. his reply was typical of the intellectual strait jacket that the country was in at the time. art miller did a good thing in that he had a timeless view of life. underlying his story was his horror of the holocaust. that he was never able to come to terms with.
He was the most incredibly handsome man. I am at a loss for words to describe him. So sad we lost him in that tragic way. It still hurts all these years later.
I don't find Topkapi worth praising. The plot is stale and the characters lack depth, making the film not really interesting. The heist plot is also nothing new.
Although Sylvester Stallone has gone through many trials and tragedies in his life, these stories only highlight his resilience and strength. It is these hardships that have made Stallone stronger and more successful in his career. He is truly an inspiration to many!
Totally agree! Lesley Ann Warren is not only a beautiful woman with a charming style but also a talented actress. Her roles in movies like 'Cinderella' and 'Clue' have left a deep impression. It is really no surprise that she has become a crush of many people.
truly a horrible movie....one that i regretted seeing at the time....and will never revisit, not even to see how on or off my barometer was originally.
I loved the love story between Greg and Tish. All of my favorite actors of the time are in this movie. The movie was entertaining enough for me. I was in the 8th grade when it came out. So, in my awkward pre-teen / teen stage of life I could only hope I would one day be as pretty as Katherine Ross. In my eyes she is a natural beauty.
I think Michael Beihn had (he's a bit old now) what it took to be a lead in a movie, it just seems he took a back seat/ support roles that were powerful- Terminator, Abyss, Tombstone were excellent roles, but his characters made other characters stronger. There is no way he's overrated because nobody ever put him into the upper echelon of actors like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Keanu Reeves, Christian Bale, etc. He seems like a simple man who took fun, challenging roles and got to make a living as an actor.
I believe that Bette Davis flew to London to lobby Olivia, her friend, to come replace Joan when Joan hospitalized herself to get what she wanted in the film. they called her bluff, and she was OUT.
Agnes Moorehead received her 4th Academy Award nomination (plus a Golden Globe award) for her memorable turn as Velma. Her role as Endora in Bewitched also started in 1964, quite the contrast to sloppy Velma lol.
This article is truly impressive in its deep dive into the life and career of Vanessa Redgrave. The photographs not only reveal remarkable moments in her life but also highlight the strength and resilience of a legendary actress. Each photograph is a separate story, showing the diversity and depth of her career.
I'm not sure why Angie Dickinson decided to reveal this at the age of 92. Is it a publicity stunt? Sometimes, revelations like this can make one wonder about the real motives behind them.
Angie Dickinson is not seeking attention. If she was she would be on tic Tok and every other social media outlet. She paid her dues as a real talent and gave us some great entertainment during the 70s and 80s that I witnessed on TV. I for one have wondered what happened to her. If she was seeking publicly as you mentioned? I wouldn't be wondering what she's been up to all these years. Seeing this video makes me want to check out her Iconic scene from the Movie Dress to Kill.
@@nefertitiscott3179 Although Angie Dickinson doesn't have much of a media or social media presence, that doesn't mean she's not in the public eye. Fame doesn't necessarily equate to a social media presence. She's had a stellar career and is still talked about, which proves that she still has an influence on her fans without having to be constantly present on modern platforms.
@@nefertitiscott3179 That may be so, but it cannot be denied that in the entertainment industry, sometimes the line between trick and truth is very thin. What is important is that the audience feels the value of what she brings.
Your pics don't jibe with your commentary. You talk about Michael, show Arnie or show others, etc. Also, consider not using the soft ensemble music; pretty distracting and not at all fitting. No music, maybe?
