GOSH! AM I HOMESICK FOR MY FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH!!? ALSO, MAKES ME LONELY FOR MY DARLIN' HAROLD, WHO WAS MORE IN LOVE WITH NOLA THAN I! PAULETTE FROHMAN
two scoops probably a 3 or 3.5, those are most common depending on the mouthpiece and style of play. Since this is a street performance, it's probably less rather than more(the number, I mean)
nolatrip2011 I am a professional musician and you have every reason: "Every time I go to New Orleans, I see musicians that are better than some stage performers. This is definitely one of them, in my opinion." The street is the best space to gain competence!
I dated a women some years back and she was totally totally deaf, zero hearing in either ear, but she could dance. I mean that we would go out for a night on the town, (Santa Fe, NM) we would eat & drink and have all kind's of fun and then go dancing. She can not hear a sound but she could feel the beat she could dance, I mean really dance. So is this talent or hard work? I think everyone has talent somewhere somehow, but you really need to put in the HOURS practicing to become good at whatever you really want in this life. I'm a man that spent my life working with my hands, (custom boot maker) and I would tell folks that if you do something a thousand times you own it, 500 times you own ½ of it, 100 times your still a beginner. Skill, talent, but never forget the hours you put in learning your trade - craft - or your music, or instrument or etc., it's the hard long hour that well push you to the top of your field, ℗.
Sorry, no. I won't let this slide. Of course it's hard work and long hours. I've put in hard work and long hours to become the percussionist and teacher I am, and while Doreen has certainly put in her time and hard work too, this is also talent. It exists. There are very few people in the world, regardless of time spent, who can do what she does. Talent exists. Hard work and talent don't have to be mutually exclusive. She uses both.
I don't believe there is such a thing as 'talent'. It's just hard work and motivation that will make you succeed. Some people require more time, some less time, but it's all hard work and motivation, not talent. .... Silly how people say you're "born" with it... Until you can prove me wrong with scientific evidence I will continue thinking this way. Oh, I also did a school project on this a while ago, they had two articles about this and were backed up by scientific evidence where the results seemed to be effective only with hard work, nothing with talent.
