SmartJet Plus Inkjet Coder from MSSC, LLC BAD PRODUCT FROM OUR EXPERIENCE - DOES NOT WORK WELL - THE COMPANY DOES NOT BACK OR STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT - PROBLEMATIC - SAVE YOUR MONEY Our company purchased a SmartJet Plus Ink jet Coder manufactured by MSSC, LLC. to code various shapes and sizes of plastic bottles used manufacturing various products. We purchased this through a distributor Pro Pack Solutions, Inc. in Loganville, Georgia. The SmartJet Plus is marketed as a High-resolution coder for both porous and non-porous surfaces for one to six lines of print. Our Experience When the product arrived there was ink all over in the box and on the product from a leaky cartridge. Also, the mounting bracket did not have the pre-drilled holes that were supposed to be on the bracket connecting to the printer head. We had to wait over a week to recieve a new cartridge and bracket. Upon set up the printer, it was very finicky and did not print multiple lines well or at all (we use a basic lot code this should be a very easy set up). They phone support from the distributor was good but was bad from MSSC. We eventually though the second ink cartridge was bad so we ordered a new one at our expense. This worked for a short time but was very difficult to get a good clear code and still good multiple lines. And yes we did frequently purge and clean the print head. Finally, the print head has to be almost touching the substrate. We have tried everything but this still prints bad and is limited. The manufacture does not offer any solutions or back this product well so we definatley reccommend that you do not purchase this. There are videos the manufacture has on RU-vid of this working will but it is only in a controlled environment and only a few samples are produced. Mounting Brackets The mounting bracket is very crude and does not allow for easy fine adjustment. This makes if difficult to position the code especially when you have multiple size and shapes of bottles. It also gets in the way of removing the ink cartridge. You would need to mount this too far away from your conveyor. Photo Eye Poor location of electric photo eye. They eye is built in the print head at the bottom of the ink nozzle cartridge which does not allow the code to go low on the bottle thus the code is to high and conflicts with the product graphic decoration. We did purchase a seperate electric eye but the plug gets in the way of the mounting bracket and they do not offer a solution to mount the eye. Inks We purchased the solvent based ink because of the plastic substrate of the bottles. This ink is not the best for a permanent code because the smallest amount of oils in the product you are filling will mar the code. It also will not adhere to labels that are laminated. The solvent based ink is not aggresive enough to adhere to non-porous service even though they market it that way.

Kevin Drees Heat sealed. Heat knife extends at the end of a cycle, slips between the two strap ends and melts them quickly. Next the gripper presses the two ends together and holds for a fraction of a second to fuse the two pieces together. This method yields approximately an 80% joint efficiency.
