When I create a video about a new stich I start the first row in one of 2 ways: 1. As same as the last row showed in the video or if it appears to have loose edges and not suitable for this my 2-nd way is: 2. I do this to avoid confusion with different stiches and patterns or to make it as clear as possible. I hope this answered your question let me know if you have more questions.
Can you explain what you mean so I can see if I can make a better video on the subject. Sometimes it could be hard when you start to loom knit if you wrap the yarn to tight around the pegs.
Amazon and most craft stores sell knitting looms. This one I use is form Joanns fabrics and crafts, I have seen those in Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart as well and sometimes in craft sections in second hand stores as well.

Adding a pompom on top or crochet/knit/ a flower, knitting/crochet/ flat small piece and make a bow for decoration. For a boy may be some premade appliques.
