... gotta luv Alberta ... you'd die of old age in NE Ontario waiting for an adult moose tag in the draw ... moose hunting is for the rich who can afford to dish out $4K for an outfitters tag ... the rest of us are used to greasy ole black bear &/or partridge & kraft dinner
@@BorealHuntsman ... I use a Marlin 1895 in 45-70 pushing a 405 grain Woodleigh Weldcore SP ... when I pull my skinning knife out to field dress the animal the black bear is still in the tracks it was standing in when I pulled the trigger
@@BorealHuntsman great footage, great area, great story line… very professional. Keep em coming. I subbed and hope to use your videos to encourage my wife and daughter to come hunting with me.
I do more field hunting, just time & building at the homestead all takes time from the day so my big camp out is moose hunting season :) I have some video of that up !
Dark chocolate is actually toxic and lethal to bears, the same chemical "Theobromine" is what makes chocolate toxic to dogs/coyotes/wolves also is deadly to bears if consumed in large quantities. In 2015 4 bears died at a baiting site in New Hampshire; forensic examination found the bears had consumed lethal doses of Theobromine and this lead to the banning of chocolate used in baiting in multiple states in the USA. More info can be found if google searched for "Chocolate baiting for bears". I'm not stating this to be negative or disparaging to your video, Congrats on the bear it was a beauty; only stating this as I'm a new bear hunter from NB, Canada and thru watching videos of BowhuntingRoad a guide/instructor bear hunter in the USA i came across this issue noted in one of his videos and thought it may be of value.
It is possible to find really nice rams in country much lower than the slide rock country. My land which averages 6800 feet home some very beautiful mountain sheep and it is all pinion/juniper country in southern Colorado.
A few years ago a friend of mine hunted for bighorn sheep on Blanca Mountain in southern Colorado. He shot a beautiful full curl ram with his 257 Weatherby. It took him 8 hours of hiking after the ram fell for him to reach it. When he got to it he had to scare the coyotes away from it. They got to it before him but caused little damage. Blanca Peak is one of the many 14 teeners in Colorado.
Great Videos! I'm excited to watch more! Congrats to Kaylee on her Muley Buck, and that porcupine looked really big! From a fellow Albertan, nice job making content of our beautiful province. What kind of camera do you guys use for long range footage?
Appreciate the positive feedback and we are glad to hear you enjoy the channel. For the ease of filming a hunt we mainly use a Cannon Vixia G50 which has 20x optical zoom. For very long range like on a sheep hunt we’ll use a phoneskope and a spotter. We also run a GoPro from time to time.
Always good to see how others process game. To be honest I've tried the gutless method a few times and have gone back to just getting the guts out. I don't find it a burden and you don't have to worry about them when they are gone.
Congratulations pretty cool, what kind of a backpack are You using, I'm curious as I just got the hunting license in December. Will try hunting possibly for a first time this year. At this point still waiting for my PAL that I have applied for in November lol
