Hello everyone,

You will find here topics about home made maintenance and repairs of older cars and motorcycles.
For example (2000) Peugeot 306 HDi, (2005) Mitsubishi Colt 1.1, (1992) Jawa 350/639, (2000) Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit and others. Some advice and test videos maybe too, we'll see :)

Stay healthy and prosper! :-)

Just a heads up,did you notice the arc across number three possibly three and four plug leads to the head gasket breather,approximately 5.56 timestamp. Didnt seem to effect the running of the bike tho.
@REBUILDLab
@REBUILDLab 27 дней назад
Must say that originally not, as I was focused on the setup...now as you mention it, yes there was an arc, which is not good. Must think about changing the leads. Occasional missfiring does not have much effect on the engine behaviour - it looks like it. I tested the motorbike for top speed and the cylinder is working.

@REBUILDLab
@REBUILDLab 25 дней назад
Still an AF problem if spark is good, I think. Is it doing that at still stand too on a free decelaration? I would pin a small diameter transparent hose to the carb drainage outlet and watch what the fuel level height is doing. If the engine idles good, then the idle jet should be ok. Then a clogged carb bypass to higher loads could cause this eventually, you could see that bypass in the drawing on the video. The engine doesn't receive enogh fuel mixture or receives wrong mixture... That's what I think at least...

@@REBUILDLab it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a Yamaha RD350😁 I was installing new pistons and rings in one of my Jawas and got out my Dremel to do some port adjusting like I did on my old formula one Suzuki 750 triple two-stroke when I thought to myself "you are going to change the ports on a bike with a 10:1 compression and which doesn't even have an automatic advance and retard ignition system? Don't be stupid and waste your time".

How much costs the RD 350? The problem is I like the Jawa...it has been in the family more than 20 years. Slowly I will get to it probably and do some more things to it, we'll see. I had to do the cleaning job this year again and found out, that the suction port clamps must be loosen much much more, so that they can deform a bit allowing the carbs slight in more easily. With only little loosen clamps it is impossible to press the carbs in.

@@REBUILDLab Thanks! How often should I expect to do the carbs?
@REBUILDLab
@REBUILDLab 2 месяца назад
It depends on what kind of gasoline you will left in the carbs during the winter. If there is bio gasoline, expect to have clogged carbs in the spring. I would use 98- 100 octane gasoline with low bio component in there for the winter plus gasoline stabiliser. Should be better then...

If there is no vacuum, then you have a leak. The crank halves went not together, leak between the two crank halves, carb path leak somewhere, leak under the cylinders, or sealings of the bearings... where ever you look that something went together, is a possible leak. You have to go one after another and inspect. It is difficult to say what is bad just like that. But if you are sure the vacuum is the problem, then at least uou have a point where to start.
