Underdog's new football show starring Jay Gruden and Colt McCoy, featuring AQ Shipley, and Justin Pugh. Go from the locker room, to the film room, to the golf course.
I think he might be like Michael Jordan in College. The joke went the only man who could hold Jordan under 20 points was Dean Smith. Michigan was designed to beat Ohio State not win the QB the Heisman. McCarthy might be a better pro than college player.
I hear this he isn't flashy stuff and being a Michigan fan who has watched every single snap of his career I think those people are crazy! Yeah maybe he didn't have to do it every play but that's because he had an Oline! I mean holy crap what do these people want a guy who has to run for his life every play getting miles put on his body? JJ has made some unreal plays . Throws and runs. The dude is a stud and will be flashy when a play needs him to be flashy and he should be smart with the football. He had very little turnovers but on very little occasions he did something that made me scratch my head. Against TCU. Bowling Green and Bama first play. I hope he doesn't try that in the NFL. If he doesn't than he will be just fine
People who think the league is going in the direction of running QB are on fooling themselves. The dude doesn't have elite arm talent , he doesn't have a naturally strong arm . If he didnt run a 4.3 , he'd be a day 3 pick on his arm talent alone . The league is 17 games now , it will definitely go to 18 , eventually it will go to 20 with all preseason games becoming regular season games . There's no way in hell guys that play like him will last a 18 plus game season with playoff and Superbowl . It will be pocket passers with scrambling ability that will continue to be the prize . Chasing unicorns will die out .
Jay was better than Rivera. I’m a say it since it’s the truth. Jay issue was he was to much like the boys lol Ron wanted all ex military kids lol coaches I tell ya😂😂
The thing is, JJ is very flashy. If you watched him in real time you’d know. I be been noticing a lot of guys like jay gruden making assumptions on JJ based off stats and what other people say as a game manager. When they really haven’t seen much tape. He’s very far from that and in fact he’d be known for it if he went to a school like usc, osu, Alabama or Oregon. Michigan doesn’t build their offense to be set up that way.
JJ can run… he can throw… best thing no one talks about? He can throw ON the run. That’s the NFL today. He’s accurate while scrambling. Eyes down the field. Harbaugh coached him well
Throws a really flat ball and is inaccurate. I expect the Vikings to be looking for another QB in three years. Not a JJ hater but I don’t see the high end talent.
Gruden said he could run, he had 2 great WR's and he got better each year. He also said his deep ball does not have a lot of pop on it, he makes ill advised throws across his body and takes too many big hits. Maybe some of this criticism is from the horrible taste of RG III still in his mouth, maybe it isn't. But, if you've followed football for 40+ years that I have...these are all code words for he still has a lot to learn
The thing that makes that trick play so much cooler than it already was…. Is the fact that that’s Dallas Turner who hit him and they are now teammates 😅
Not exactly effusive praise of McCarthy, but not much criticism either. I'm getting "game manager" vibes from Gruden which has been a knock on JJ because he doesn't make a lot of mistakes but the highlight reel is bereft of "splash plays". The question is whether KOC and McCown can bring out a more dynamic version of McCarthy while retaining his good decision making DNA. Other than Caleb, I think JJ has the lowest bust potential of any QB in this past draft, but is his potential enough to propel the Vikings into playing meaningful games in January.
The thing with Nix was, you take the short stuff out, and he’s still either #1 in the country or #2. It truly is remarkable to be that accurate at every level of the field.
I like the breakdowns, but you need to show the actual video more clearly than from a distance with a glare. Can't see it very well, except when you zoom in, which wasn't often enough. Audio of y'all, video of the actual plays. Just a thought.
