Thank you! I purchased this skid steer for my son, but he started driving a truck and abandoned his plans to use the machine. Now, I'm going to use it at my house before I sell it. You've helped me tremendously.
You wanna know how I did mine? Wedged a pry bar up between where the lower bolt came out of and pried foreword and the starter case cracks easily right in the middle of the threads up top. Simple and easy and flat rate.
What did you use to break the cab nuts loose? I see they are 15/16ths but can’t get them to budge on a 287b we are borrowing that has a bad leak under the cab.
Not sure if you use a grapple accessory. My grapple controls stopped working al of a sudden. All electrical, fuses seems to be working fine. I changed the joystick and no change. Any idea what it could be. I have a 2007 247b CAT
Hello thank You for help i got a6 from 2008 with 4.2 fsi and i take like 1.10 minutes to take out and install new one. Thank you i did this on jack stands.
Great video. Here's a heads up on the inline fuel filter. Find your transfer pump, located just behind the high pressure fuel pump. There's a small screw in the middle of the pump. Remove it and "CAREFULLY" lift the top off. This will expose a screen inside. Remove and clean. Note the screen has 3 fingers that allow it to go in one way. Also the cover has a star pattern in order to align. Also not this is a not serviced part by CAT. Meaning if you screw something up, you need a new pump. I just did one yesterday for a customer that replaced the OEM water sep./filter and couldn't figure out why his machine ran like crap. Wish I could show you the pictures! Hope this helps.
How long have you had your CAT? What are the main issues you've had with it? I had to change out the entire undercarriage with the bear products. All the axels went to heck and just went out. Id be interested to see what other problems people have had with this machine and try to catch them before they get too far gone. CAT 257B 2006 3000 hours.
Your online fuel filter location... behind air filter housing, at rear engine mount, look for the rubber fuel line and you will see it about the same height as the hydraulic filter housing.
@@brandonkoester9031 TO-4? Its for cat transmissions, especially wheel loaders with 4 speed hydraulic transmissions. . AW 32/46 will work for these machines.
Ok so,the valve on the thermostat housing is to shut the water supply off to the heater core for using the machine in the summer to get the most out of the ac,the in line fiel filter is behind the air cleaner housing between the fuel tank sending unit and the mechanical fuel pump
@@golfwrench Thanks for the reply! I think our unit doesn’t have it after looking. I figured that’s where it had to be. I may install one in there. There is a screen in the fuel lift pump on the top. One 8mm bolt and it’s under the round cover. Ours was filthy. I dunno how diesel flowed through it. After cleaning it Runs best it ever has since we have owned it. Also way easier to prime with the plunger now. Hope this helps someone!
So run out of diesel in my Skid steer LOADER and instead of putting the diesel in the diesel tank i put it in the hydraulic tank 🤔 that was yesterday i didn't notice i put diesel in the hydraulic tank and i used the machine for like 2hrs and it was running ok Then today morning it over heat bc the fan stoped working 😔 What can i do?
If you have diesel in hydraulic tank I’d drain and refill take with new fluid. The over heating is a different problem. Could be bad fan motor, bad temp switch, messed up wire, or check fusible links on driver side rear.
It’s a cloudy liquid like engine oil, if you lift bucket up into the air then you can see the lax line easier, but don’t take that as your reading, once you locate the max line then drop bucket back down and look at tank again
@@brandonkoester9031 Great! Thank you for the video! I am going to check mine tomorrow. Just picked up a 03 246 and want to make sure everything is functioning correctly.
My cat 257b starting bucket moves up and down but will not move track wheels seems to be locked what is the problem what to do to get the wheels rolling
Hey buddy great vid . I have a 07 Audi A4 with the 3.2L engine and I have it almost done but the screw that goes on top of the a starter I don’t find the way to get it loose . On my car I don’t have much space . How did you get yours loose the one on top of the starter . Thankx for your time and info 👍
Brandon Koester yeah that one I was working on had been sitting for years. I used a pry bar to get the cab bolts out of the holes. But that’s as far as that went. I noticed on the left side of the cab there is a small red lever. I tried to mess with that but no success. I guess I’ll try to pry on it more..
Kim Murphy it’s part of the hydraulic system for whole skid. But to check that fluid right above the fuel filler behind the right arm you will see another filler and a sight glass on the side that’s the hydraulic fluid for entire machine. I’ll post a video on it
