The quality control with new vinyl is very hit and miss. Need to be wary of records pressed in Eastern Europe and Czech Republic in particular I believe..usually poor quality. It annoys me too when you're paying £30+ for a new album and it's noisy on play and then they can't even be bothered to put the vinyl in a poly- lined sleeve.
@cameronleehorace it's getting harder to find them. I have found a shop that does 4 for a tenner and bought a few from those and a charity shop that's just started selling records had a cracking selection at reasonable prices. I will be doing another video shortly with around 50 to 60 albums as I haven't really had a chance lately.
I believe Lou Reed made that album purely as a protest against his record company after they refused to renegotiate his contract. Thirty seconds of side one was enough for me, awful.
Haha your comments make me laugh but at least you are honest and not just going along with the regulars. Facebook marketplace is where people often sell crap records thinking they are all worth something. Very rare to find half decent stuff. 461 OB is only Eric Clapt-out album I have. The Manchester comp sounded interesting. Looking forward to seeing where you go out I never get up early enough for car boots, charity shops yes still find great stuff if you time it right/repeated visits, cheers Martin.
I have Cry Tough by Nils Lofgren, bought it when it came out,1975 i think. Great album but for me, he's never come near his self titled first album . If anyone out there sees it, pick it up. Tracks include Keith Don't Go, Back It Up etc. Ruddy marvellous!
I made a specific needle drop video of that Melting Pot of Hits record six years ago on my channel. It has what I think must be the worst cover of a Beatles song ever published. It is so bad it is criminal.
i got the rare lp with die cut sleeve earth and fire early 70s rock for a quid once, i think they thought it was earth wind and fire! i sold it for £800
I have no income so some of the stuff I sell on to pay my way. I have had dealers round wanting to pay me next to nothing for stuff I know is worth decent money.
That’s a first press or second press of the Floyd album. It has the Gigi soundtrack album in the cover photo, which was changed to a white cover on later pressings. Interesting finds. Cheers.
Dont have a discogs store, not a fan. Ive just set up a facebook page this morning but havent put anything on. If there is something you are after message me facebook.com/CharityShopEddie
Lemon Popsicle is a R 'n' R Israeli film it's actually quite funny in an odd sort of a way. You got your money back for Cream because it wasn't mint? How much did you get back? £1 or alot more?!
The guy claimed it was mint, it's VG at best. He admitted he didn't check it, gave a refund and told me to keep the record. He also sold a few to other people who I contacted and they had the same issue with his stuff.Forgot to say, the Cream album was £24 but i only paid that as ive been after a decent copy so paid up for it.
The Ozrick Tentacles are from Somerset, Eddie, and they’ve got about 30 albums released. Their fan club releases live cassette’s I’m told. Alright aren’t they.
You can't listen to Blue on Spotify because Joni joined Neil Young with her ultimatum to Spotify over Joe Rogan speaking about covid and the vaccine. Turns out Rogan was right. Old Neil and Joni have lost their marbles it seems.
Great collecting the Now catalogue. I see Richard McCook collected the Pick of the Pops series. It’s great having a series to look for, it adds an extra aspect when another one you’re after turns up. I’m a 1951 boy, so The Shadows made me sit up and listen.
It was a new shop and a box of albums had come in and they hadnt even opened it, so i asked how much and he said £2 each. I was expecting rubbish but was pleasantly suprised.
Qudos to you for finding vinyl at such great prices. I relocated to the US in 2017 and you will find nothing at anywhere near those cheap prices here. In fact most people especially on the used market think what they are selling commands top Dollar lol
Eddie, some very interesting finds. Charity shops on my side of the pond are full of rubbish. Like that you go for blind buys. Curious, who do you consider doing things better than Little Feat? Just subbed you. Cheers.
For me they remind me of Allman brothers and Skynryd. Maybe because I've not heard loads of Little Feat or because I'm more used to the others I personally rate those higher. Saying that "Waiting For Columbus" is a brilliant album.
'The Beiderbecke Affair' with James Bolam might be for you ...The track 'Chan Chan' by Buena Vista Social Club is more than pretty good. I'd go as far as saying it's spellbinding ... That's a hell of a CD haul ... I can recommend 'Watertown' by Frank Sinatra.
Hi Eddie. I'm always on the look out for CDs in charity shops. Perseverance is the key. I don't know how much you paid for them. I usually pay £1 or less. I'll even pay up to 50 pence for any sealed CD if it comes in a quality, undamaged jewel case ... Blimey that's quite a haul of Dylan CDs. I've never seen 'Christmas In The Heart' or heard any of the tracks. Just the idea of it feels out of place in his catalogue ... I'll stop at the start of Van Morrison, and hopefully watch the rest later.
Hi Eddie. 'The Flowers Of Romance' is a strange one. I don't know if it's poor production, or just the over-emphasis on drumming, but I've always thought it's not one of Lydon's best. I've got it on CD. If I saw it on vinyl though, I'd still snap it up ... I was starting to think you were a harsh critic, but then you said 'Victorialand' is a good album. It's a pity you can't keep it, but I understand the need to buy and sell. You can at least enjoy it for a while ... You'll have the Beatles fans upset if you're not careful; although the packaging on 'The John Lennon Collection' is very poor indeed ... 'London Calling' is my favourite album of all time. Not bad for £2! ... The 7-inch singles looked to have very clean sleeves. That could be where the money is.
That Public Image Ltd album is famous for being inaccessible. I buy a lot of records every year, but its the ones I find in charity shops for a quid that give the most enjoyment. Great finds there Eddie. Cheers
Hi Eddie hope your well? nice finds I always check the labels before I buy the album/single it only happened to me once when I bought a mono copy of the Beatles magical mystery tour ep it only had one disk and it was 50p and the next day I found the missing disk in the same charity shop and they sold it to me for 10p
Hi Eddie, I always check the labels........ Switchfoot are a Christian band now on a major label some might say they have sold out and lost their gospel message. Actually that may be a pressing error and not radiator related.
