My reel mower spins if it’s on a hard surface with no problems, but once it touches grass the reel stops. I just lapped the bed knife, would a worn down bed knife do this?
🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽awesome lawn. Sorry about your pops sir. Besides the golf course, you must have the nicest residential lawn in Honolulu. We moved from Oahu (Kailua) to Wisconsin in 2020 and that’s where my lawn journey started. That’s an instagram lawn right there lol.
Hey there! Dealing with Rhodes grass can be a challenge in Hawaii. I'll look into the herbicide options and get back to you with some recommendations. Thanks for bringing this up!
😂😂😂 I knew u was from Hawaii as soon as u had talk!! Aloha to u from Kauai. Thanks for the vid, very helpful! I’ll b trying to do my own oil change on my Mclane. 🤙🏼
I would also apply the granular. The powdered will percolate quickly through the soil to the water table below. The granular is time released. But the powdered is a great way to get the process going quickly.
Wow. Are you a chemist? The backpack liquid spreader, could you provide a link or give identifying details for it. I want to get it. I am impressed by its flow rate and pressure.
nice. too bad Milwaukee came out with their rotary trimmer now. Was looking for a cheaper option, but this plus their pole almost puts me at the 399 price :(
Something I will keep in mind next time. I use to put a extender pipe after digging out the dirt. I would suggest you put a donut to protect the head. Finally nice lawn, thick matted grass, looks like St Aug.
Thank you for checking out the video! Its always great to know about products out on the market. I have a whole library of cool stuff In my back pocket. Just need an opportunity to present itself for me to go out and buy something!
Just 2 days ago I removed a tree root roughly 6 ft long and 4 -6 inches round. I used my Sawzall with a 9 inch blade and a crow bar. Was done in 15 minutes.
My mower is set to 7/8" but it does feel leggy down below. I took at measurement from the soil to the top of the grass blade and the actual measurement is 1-3/8" to 1-1/2"
Nice find a local guy on oahu doing lawn care videos🤙🏼 any tips to help me oit with my zoysia? I purchased a new dev home but they only place plugs… some areas didnt fill in… also some areas not as green as i would like it to be. Any recommendations on fertilizer and other products? Also do u Aerate your lawn?
Thanks for watching. For plugs, it can take up to a year to fill in. Now that summer is approaching, the grass should spread more. I would recommend you use Scotts Turf Builder Starter Fertilizer until your grass fills in then switch to 21-0-0 Ammonium Sulfate also called Sulfate of Ammonium, Gaviota brand. I would keep it simple and resist getting suckered into products and things you see on RU-vid. You'll need to manage the weeds that creep into the bare spots until the area fills in. I have sticky clay soil that clogs my manual aerator so I don't aerate much. I do have a few areas in my lawn that dries out quicker than the rest. For these area I use a 4-tined spading garden fork which I poke into the ground and wiggle a bit to loosen the dirt beneath the grass in an effort to "fracture" the soil. For these problematic areas, I try to manage the moisture in the ground and not let the area get overly dried out as the soil becomes hydrophobic. You may hear tips on youtube about watering deep and infrequently. For us here in hawaii with clay soil, its about watering more frequently but less (every other day). This is especially more true for you as your grass still needs to spread and become more mature. Hope these tips help! Find me on instagram where I have more daily content. Mahalo!
I dont mow to much in the dark. In this video, I just got my lightbar headlamp and clamped it onto my grass catcher. Your comment had me searching on amazon. There were a few clamp on battery powered LED lights that I thought could work nicely.
Watching you using the circular saw bare footed scared the hell out o me. It could have kicked back and caused much dammage to your bare foot. Safety first my friend, always protect yourself from injury.
sulfur on the grass is fairly caustic. In your situation, a granular product would be better unless you spray the powered sulfur right before a rain event.
