from what I understand a VR headset would become damaged if the lenses were exposed to enough sunlight, do you know if this will wear down a headset in a similar way?
Hi Romesh, there are several approaches to creating a digital twin of an AM process. First you must consider the interpretation of a digital twin to define its scope, and then you have to consider what AM process you want it to virtualise. This project focused on creating a digital twin of a LB-PBF machine using machine-focused sensors and inferring process performance from there. In this experiment, they reviewed emission data from the laser and melt pool and used a digital twin algorithm to score and report on the process. Both experiments are valid approaches and provide great inside and value to users of such equipment.

Barry, Well done Great presentation and webinar. I was looking at it on a laptop hard wired into the EI system. I could use the mouse for the 360 degree view. As feedback to IMR was requested, on a few occasions in the first half it buffered and froze, but when you were in the final hall it worked very well. I tried to leave a comment while it was running but it bounced out. I was able to re run it it and catch up to the ending immediately. The video with the 360 degree functionality is there for re-running by anyone and we can point companies to it as an introduction to IMR. It has promise as a way of connecting with your audience.
