I really like this method. Never saw it before until yesterday at an artwalk. There was an artist who did this and it was beautiful. Can I ask what types of paints you can use and can you use oil pastels?
Fun technique using the metal chain to make impressions into the wax before adding the colors. I didn't know you could put a lot of color and then kind of just wipe it into the grooves and take off most of the color. Very different than say watercolor or acrylic. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the angle shot used to show the wax when heating with the heat gun. The first video to actually show it. Everybody tries to describe it instead of showing it.
I love your art. Could you please include the colours that you used. In a month from now I hope I can learn how to do this. I'm thinking of ordering supplies before I start doing this. Thank you for your advice 👍🏼👏🏼👍🏼
VIP Question- following your steps to the letter and the last step- rubbing the oil on and off- how long does it typically take for your oil hang up to dry? Mine has been drying for a week now and can still be smudged out of recesses?... thanks 😊
Rebekkah Ziel hi! Yes it can take a long time for the oil sticks to dry, as oil paint does. It depends on how much you use. After I fuse the oil stick into the wax, however, the oil no longer smudges because it sinks in to the layers. Hope that helps!?
May I ask why you use the wax before painting? Is it preserving your charcoal or is there another reason for it. Also* are you using oil paints here? Thank you
Mary M hi! Thanks for the questions and very sorry for such a late reply... I paint with the wax to create layers and to protect. No I’m using encaustic paint, but you could also use oil sticks or paint.
Riri Riri Thank you! You can use oil paint but you’d need to remove some of the oils first. I’ll squeeze a small amount of oil paint onto a paper towel to remove some of the oil before applying. Hope that helps!?
Thank you, just gorgeous! Was the permanent ink you used for the trees StazOn? What type of paint did you use? If you could post a more detailed supply list, that would be wonderful. :)
