I was lucky enough to meet the boys backstage after their 50 years anniversary concert in January 2012 in Christ Church Cathedral for a few short interviews. I partuclarly remember talking to Barney and joking about their plans for the 60 years anniversary and Barney very reflectively responded "We take it slow, we're at an age you don't know if you're still there the next year". It still gives me shivers considering what happened a few weeks later.
We used to sing this in Mr Halls folk singing lessons in primary school 50 years ago. I do live over the Mersey from Liverpool. This is a song that I can recite from memory as soon as I hear the intro❤❤❤
We were in iron Brigade uniforms talking to thousands about Irish history and wisconsin history and discovering their family history and dragged out to a corner by the boy for a a photo shot so some were in their collection we are all to gather Irish and wisconsin history intertwined as it always will be
At Irish fest Milwaukee the lads are still there every summer in the shadows or a distant sound with lake Michigan stretching out as a sea of dreams snd voices
