I went to the Spence garage as a kid and the problems with the Kawasaki gearbox 82 & 83 and his dad had gearbox lay shafts and gears all over the work bench.
what's the difference between this ALPHA and the other big MAICOs...? what a sound, man! i have a '99 cr500,and i know it's stronger and all - but this MAICO is much nicer, and also sounds great! and crisp! beauty!
The clutch would be great if the engine froze up but the transmission is after the clutch sorry! Now if you said try derailing the chain or breaking it that might make sense?
What a warrior Georges Jobe, busted shock after 10 mins and still laid it on the line for next 30mins....modern day riders would have gone back to pits.....Thanks for the memories Georges....peace, perfect peace.
Great Job - I own a Maico Alpha but "only" 250 - the sound of yours ist phantastic. What brand of shock did you mount and how does it work? Did you mount a 1980 motor and how did you manage to fit it into the Alpha frame? - Once I tried to mount a 1978 motor into the Alpha frame - but it did'nt fit - on the bottom there is is a motor mount that did'nt fit with the Alpha suspension system.
