GNF was established in 1965, to commemorate the 500th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November, 1969. GNFPS is the brain child of Late Dr. Inderjit Singh Ji, Founder Chairman of the School Management Committee and formerly President of Guru Nanak Foundation, New Delhi. It was due to his firm commitment to the cause of education, missionary zeal, benevolent-patronage and personal interest that our first school was launched on 14th April, 1993 in Patiala.​
To carry forward his message of love, selfless service to society, promotion of social and moral values, GNF has entrusted the Presidentship of the Foundation on the shoulders of S. Tejbir Singh Ji, an able administrator, enthusiastic, progressive and worthy son of Late Dr. Inderjit Singh Ji. Under the dynamic chairmanship of S. Tejbir Singh Ji, all the schools are doing their best to accomplish the targets envisioned by the founder. Today GNF has three successful schools running in Patiala, Mohali and Jalandhar.
