The channel obsessed with 90s cars! I have four ongoing projects, The Alfa Romeo daily driver with its fruity 210bhp diesel power. Then there's the 4.0 V8 Lexus LS400 aiming for 500BHP with a rear mount turbo conversion ongoing. Then the edgy Fiat Coupe 20 valve turbo having a restoration with a major transplant in the planning. And finally there's a modern classic (IMO) the Fiat Marea 2.4 five cylinder HLX.
There will also be some laughs, satire news and some great spotlight features following some of the best specialists to take your pride and joy to!
Well you made that look easy... Got an intermittent groan on my 05 is 430 diff especially when it's in 6th and you feather the accelerator which leads me to a diff problem.. Is there much difference in the ls 400 v ls 430 to swap out the diff ? Good vid bud :)
Thanks man, would have been easier on a lift 🤣 pretty sure the 430 is a very similar set up. Make sure you check the transmission mount, prop centre bearing and rubbers either end and finally the diff bushings themselves. All known to transmit some odd noises into the cabin. After that there's only the actual diff left to make those kinds of noises. Thanks for watching 😃
Nothing video wise yet, have lots of new panels and parts that I've been gathering, I'll do something on it very soon as I'm struggling with physical suff at the moment, I'll see if it'll fire up again with some fresh fuel as I last put fuel in it about 6 years ago🤣
It's the one I'd like to use as a daily, I bought a mk1 focus estate 2.0 petrol but that's heavy on fuel and it's not half as nippy as the marea was. The focus needs to go now, it's taking up space now I don't need it.

I've just binge watched your series having had it on my watch list for a while. Excellent work! It's giving me the inspiration I needed to get back to putting mine together, as I took most of my dash apart last year hoping to remove all of that sound deadening 'curtain' from behind it. Unfortunately, my roll cage stops the final piece from coming out so I need to put it back and tackle it another day. I'm hoping it will go out the windscreen opening when I have it resprayed one day as that 12.6kgs is an easy way to shave more kgs off! My photos and notes from when I took it apart are shocking, so I'm hoping your videos will help!

im just having the whole passenger side and drive side floor pan replaced at the moment as its rotted through, no rust round the boot area which is usually the worst place, then have a big t04e turbo and a CAST SPA external wastegate turbo manifold (t3 flange version) fitted in 2 weeks. these spa manifolds have extremely short runners to the flange so should sound abit better than normal. imported the manifold from the states.
may do some videos, i have a tendancy to remove my youtube account and end up forgetting my login and have to create another account again because people want to argue the toss, talk smack about things/hate on things they know nothing about - often slating fiats mighty 20vt for no reason when they are one of the strongest most robust 5 cylinders on the planet. capable of 700-800bhp on 80% of the stock engine.
the guys slating the fiat lump are the focus st and rs boys, thinking their engine is somehow superior yet isnt at all reliable at the 225 the st came with let alone MORE power. i mean you should never have to see on a MOD LIST as a mod "BLOCK MOD"
82.5mm wossner pistons and pec rods, SPA turbo high lift cams again from the states, glyco engine bearing kit, uhh, not sure what else yet, i want the non ac engine mounts, but...i have a short belt on my ac setup that has removed the ac pump anyways. and just got a brand new ac alternator which is ni on impossible btw. 200ish from autosportivo on ebay. they only sell the non ac alternators new from companies now i believe.
alright mate, i have a 20vt plus in moon grey running 370whp, where you located? im in dorset. dont know the mileage of it as a previous owner has put non plus clocks in, dont care tho as its going sweet and i have a spare low mileage 20vt engine only done 72k miles, not even had its first cambelt change yet! the low mile engine will be 1000bhp.

Picked up my mates sprint blue coupe yesterday to sort out after having a 6 year sleep lol😂 parked it next to my wine red coupe 20vt need a sprint blue or bloom yellow coupe again
You are lucky to be able to get those parts, here it would be a nightmare. And that picture does look exactly like my Yellow coupe, I gave her a clean today, but here being so cold I could not do it properly. @@FullBoostJ4sadly? i say its a good thing, means its ecxclusive and not many people know what they are. parts are often on ebay and not a problem, one thing that (if your taking it to your local mechanic tho) is that the suppliers these garages get the parts from DO NOT SELL THE POWER STEERING BELT KITS ANYMORE. like...at all........ which is annoying asf because my tensioner is clacking its tits off and has been for over a year., so ill have to pay the 120/130 quid just for the belt/tenionser and idler pulley off ebay. and youll be lucky if a garage will even take any work on on your coupe, luckily i am kinda mates with one garage and the people that are doing the floor pan the owner had one years ago, the other garages in my area wont touch it outright refusing to work on it for any job.
@lloyde-s5c shame about the PAS kits unavailability, I did find my tensioner, it sounds okay when I spin it, hoping the bearing is okay that the pump runs through. Hopefully I should be up and about soon to carry on with it
@@FullBoostJ4 yeh, cars will always be there to come back to luckily. take care of yourself first and foremost. unfortunately i cannot work on my coupe anymore, i had a bike crash in 2018 and had a life changing leg injury and am awaiting the next life changing op 6 years later, sucks to be 32 and have extremely limited mobility.
@@FullBoostJ4 i have ankle movement so i can operate the pedals, but when braking, i either left foot brake or have to brake like way over what anyone else would deem normal as i cant physically put pressure through the pedal. being a 6 speed coupe and plus i dont think i could ever let it go. no matter what.
It's very good 👍, there's an earlier video where I briefly went around all the usual places where these rust. I'll add it to the playlist. The worst bit is the off side outer chassis leg, I'll be sorting that in an upcoming episode. I think that because it's been off the road so long, it hasn't had to see the last 8 years of salt covered winter roads.
@mcrobbo69 yes, luckily it's only a bit of surface rust in there. I removed both badges a few years ago and sealed up the holes, the first objective is to get it through a test and drive it for while. It may well possibly end up being used for racing yet, but that's potentially 2026 if I can get it and myself prepared in that time 🤣
This isa labour of love I guess, how long do you think it will take to get it at least to the startup phase? That oil filter is mach harder to get to than you think, when in the car and the engine has just been run... I am enjoying this, as I seeing lots of stuff I have not see in my ownership of my cars. To be honest I hope never to get to this level of disassembly... Keep up the good work...
I guess 5 years, maybe longer, but other cars seem to get in the way. My aim was to find the smallest fun car, with the most powerful engine... A BMW 135i coupe with 400 bhp just made me scared, still have it. The Fiat Coupe at 220 hp, was a sweet spot... I love small, nimble and fast. When the summer comes here, I will be taking the Plus back on the road, but honestly the 135i would eat it, but would not feel quite as special... Having 12 very different cars is quite a treat...
@kevinjekyll1521 that's awesome mate! I had a little 106 Gti back in the day, only 130bhp but it was the most fun I'd ever had. What other cars are you running, I thought I had my hands full with 6🤣
The cars that are tucked away in my garage are a Mercedes SLK r171 55AMG, and a BMW Z4M both 2007 era... my last purchase was an Alfa Mito QV manual, only 170hp, but I find it much more fun to drive than the Fiat 500 Abarth I had. And the VW estate W8, well that is such a cool car that no one seems to appreciate, like my gen 1 Cayenne Turbo... do I need to say more... haha.
Yes, it really was. That was in 2015, although prices have risen quite a bit since then. In the same condition as I bought it back then it would be worth around £3500 now.
Yeah both complete and runners, still one needs a little love, but it is a six speed Plus, with leather and a sunroof that does not leak. I think these cars are special, but sadly don't have the insane Ford / Holden etc fan base to drive the prices to the moon. I do love an underdog...
It is non air con, althoughthe engine that's going in was air con, I had the non air con parts already. I can check what part numbers I have if that's what you need? Thanks for watching 😃
It's something to do with valet service, I can't remember exactly how it works, I'll look through the owners manual and get back with a proper answer 🤣🤣
I've heard stories about axle bolts coming loose, wheel studs Sheering and destroyed CV joints. I did swap out the 275 wide rubber for 225 so as not to break anything
It's difficult to say, I didn't get it dyno'd after. It made 218whp before. And felt significantly faster at 6lb of boost. It's a janky home brew and I used exhaust piping that was too large atbthe front end, so I really want to start again with better quality parts and correctly sizing the exhaust system. It worked really well so I was really happy with it. It just looks sketchy. The rebuild will be bigger, better, faster, more!!
I just want to know, how much diffrence there is if i delete them or buy a new manifest, with new flaps, because its around 250€ cheaper to just buy delete kit
You could get a new one and it could be fine for another 8 to 10 years. With a delete kit, you have peace of mind that the flaps will never be able to damage the engine, and you'll never have boost leaks. I don't suppose they stay air tight for very long anyway.
@@FullBoostJ4 the car is from 2005, its my first car i suppost i wont have it for 8-10 years, maybe 4-6years.....and what performance do i get with a new manifest or delete kit, how much better is it with the flaps
@@FullBoostJ4 so your sugestion is 40€ on delete kit and i am free of that shit, because also want to chip it alittle :)) to like 180hp from 150 and i dont know if the flaps play a major role in performance
