Usually when I fish surface lures I like dark colours but in the case of paddler style like the tremor I don’t think it matters as they make a lot of commotion any way. Just remember when you pick a surface lure colour they only see the colour on the bottom of it anyway
Hey mate I really like them for rivers particularly if there is good flow. I only use them with the paddler bib. As far as paddlers go you can run them the faster without them blowing out compared to other paddlers and I like to fish fast especially when river flow is fast and your casting between snags. Also they are one of the best casting lures on the market and go far and straight landing with fouling up less than most other surface paddlers which is important not all lures cast acutely and zig zag through the air. I also like that replacement bibs are easy to buy and attach because it doesn’t matter what paddler you use if you use it enough you will break it. And of course they get bites and having confidence in what your using is massive especially cod fishing. There a things that arnt my favourite about them. The hooks are really good but the split rings are average and straighten a bit on most my bigger fish. I actually don’t like the light and vibration thing as is gets stuck on sometimes and gives me the shits with the noise in the boat. I prefer them once they’re flat. Obviously they are expensive (I’m not sponsored in away way from them and have to by my own) at $100 a pop. In saying that if I’m going to spend a whole day casting a lure I’d rather have the one I want tied on as I think my day is worth more than the $100 to me. Most the ones I’ve totally broke were cast hard into trees so that was my fault. I’ve had one other than the one in this video break from “nothing” and it snapped its tow eyelet off but that was after like a years use and had already caught me a metery in the past so it was more so used to death. In all I will continue to use them I have confidence in them and think they are a pretty decent product. Thanks
I was considering buying some Tremors but after watching this ...Nope....they're definitely not worth the $100. Yah only paying for someone get rich scheme. I've also bought a Balista diver a few years ago....worked for approx an hour...then never worked again
Great video mate! Not suprised that balista crap fell apart, plenty of cheaper quality timber aussie made surface lures out there that stand well above balistas chinese crap
Yea mate I’ve used most all the surface paddlers that are targeted towards cod on the market. The balista tremor does have 2 features I like and that is the replacement bibs are easy to use as I’ve broken bibs on most all paddler types and the main thing I like is I can burn them really fast and they hold in and still work were most the others blow out at speed. But yea I’ve broken/had them brake on my fair share of them too
Hey mate. I pretty much give anything a go as it comes to braid. My favourite at the moment would be j-braid x8 and I’ve recently spooled one of my swimbait outfits with the new j-braid x8 expedition and it’s definitely a lot thinner diameter than the original and feels nice to cast.
Great video mate a so good to see ya looking after the catch, to many wankers throw them on a hot brag mat or carpet even drag em up the bank. Bit of advice for you chasing cod, when surface popping, set another rod with a spinner bait our sinking lure, When you miss the book and he won’t come back hit the are with the spinner bait or sinking lure
Cheers mate. Funny you say that about having a spinner bait ready as I’m out fishing at the moment and have done exactly that. I actually managed to stick one on surface this morning so Havnt had a chance to use it yet. Thanks for the wicked advice
Was this vid up around maude. I was camped at Moulamein for the week between Xmas and new years and remember seeing ur boat heading back towards barham
Great video well done! Very solid fish! Cool seeing the fish on side imaging.Must be a different type of river to what I'm used too to not have many snags.I agree totally with what you said about having the spotlights on the boat, people say you can't see anything, you can see trees in front of you and floating logs it just looks like you can't see anything if there is only water in front of you, i fish until dark at Dartmouth and then i go full send across the lake back to the boatramp which could be 20km away i have got gps trails marked and the lights show up trees if they are in front. The last hour of fishing can turn an unsuccessful into a successful one.I reckon the bearings on that reel you were casting the surface lures on sounds a bit dry, i just had the same issue, looked up "how to lubricate a baitcast reel" on You tube, plenty of videos on it, they all say a similar thing so i did that (it was pretty easy you don't have to pull the whole reel apart)and now it works as good as new, it's got the DC reel zing back! Love the hair looks Rock Star! Keep up the good work.
That’s for the kind words mate. As for my reel you may have noticed I’m pretty average at preventive maintenance and I’m also really good at braking shit😂 I’m out fishing at the moment for a few days but when I get back Ill give my reel a bit of love. Cheers
@Leighmitchell001 No worries, I will look forward to hearing the reel sing in future videos.I reckon it was affecting the casting distance with mine so you might notice an improvement in that regard.
Cheers mate. Yea I thought it might be. The bib is a different shape than other oar-gees I’ve seen before. Also couldnt make out the name on the bib either like most other oar-gees. Been using it a bit lately. Bloody good lure.
