Just wondering since I saw somewhere online that William Macdonald is calvanist whether this commentary is bias towards that view or does it also present other views or no views at all. Just wanna know since im curious how they tackle Romans and Ephesians depending on how it they handle those issues.
Hi! Thanks for watching and asking this question. I'm not an expert on calvanist because I'm not one. But from what I understand, I don't see any evidence that he's a calvanist. He states in an article on Ephesians in his commentary that no where does the Bible say that God chooses men to be lost. He also states that the Bible DOES teach that you can know if somebody is ”elect” (or saved) by THEIR response to the gospel. Those who hear and believe are elect. Also I found this excerpt from another book he wrote pushing against a doctrine that makes the elect a ”mystery” that God has withheld true insight from us. It's a little hard to or me to understand all of it and I will say The Believers Commentary is much easier to understand. But some of it is very clear. He says there's no place for Christ in a doctrine that says God elects someone to damnation if they have placed their faith in Christ. If I understand calvanist correctly...it does not seem William Macdonald is a calvanist. Of course that's just an excerpt so I don't know what the rest of the book says. However The Believers Commentary pushes against calvanism as it pertains to election. I hope this answers your question. Here's the excerpt I mentioned: theremonstrant.blogspot.com/2015/04/william-g-macdonald-on-calvinisms.html?m=1
Also here's a tip. Download an app called Life Bible. It. will let you preview The Believers Bible commentary for free for 3 days. Go to Eph 1:4 in the commentary ( you'll have to scroll down a bit). You will see a blue colored bubble that says ”Divine Election”. Click on that and it will open the complete article I referenced. It's an interesting read 😊
Yes I admit I did too because I wasn't studying and reading the Bible the way I should have been. And it's still easy to do. Thanks for watching and sharing ❤️
I bought it for $23 on Amazon. It was described as a “very good copy”. I am extremely pleased with it! It is a Great bible commentary! Your review was excellent! Stay blessed!😎😇😍😊💗💕🌷🌹🌺🌸💚💛🩵💜🩷❤️🧡✝️
Video came under 'suggested viewing'. I have lots of sermon notes and never knew how to link them in my bible. Your idea for sermon note/annotation is a big help. Thanks for caring to share.
I'm inching toward being able to just write in my Bible. It's been a real struggle for me because of how I was raised with the idea that we don't write in books from the library or in the Bible. In elementary school our teachers and librarians pounded it into our heads about library and text books, and family members said it was defacing the Bible. Also, like you, I had a bad experience years ago with notes and highlighting in a Bible becoming a distraction for me. I recently bought a $3 thrift store study Bible that had a broken spine. I have been taking a few notes in it and am easing into Bible notetaking without much risk involved.
I remember feeling it was wrong to place a Bible on the floor. Somebody must have taught me that was disrespectful to the Bible. Not that I ever threw my Bible on the floor but if I was going through books and had them stacked out on the floor my Bible couldn't be on the floor. My husband to this day won't write in his Bible but he generally doesn't take notes or write in any books either. He will put a post it tab in his Bible though. I think it's an excellent idea to use a super affordable thrift store or dollar store Bible to kind of get your feet wet with taking notes in Bibles. And then even when you do start in your main Bible, you could always start with post-its or tip-ins so they could be removed. Thank you for watching and sharing that!
Another great review Nancy! I bought this bible in the MEV translation about two weeks ago. I wonder if the notes are the same in the NLT, MEV and other translations of the fire 🔥bible? My bible collection has really grown in size! Thanks for another great review! Have a blessed 😇 day! ✝️😇🙏🏼😎💕💗🌸🌺🩷💚🩵❤️💜🩶🧡💛
Oh that's a great question! I have no idea but I would suspect they're the same or very similar as most of the study notes are bit on the devotional side. I'm sure they differ slightly in the "referencing" of the notes based on the translation and maybe a little different when word studies are thrown in (I don't think there's much of that though in the Fire Bible). I didn't get the MEV because at the time I had no idea what it was 😆 But I've grown to like the ESV. I'm not currently looking for a new Bible but when I'm ready I might look very closely at an MEV because I honestly just can't do the KJV! Thanks for watching and sharing 😊
Nancy! I just came across your excellent video and review on The Believer’s Bible Commentary and I ordered this on Monday from Amazon for around $23. It is my very first commentary. Thanks for doing this! It is more thorough than other reviews I have looked at. I look forward to getting it. May you continue to be blessed 😇! 😎
Hi there. I'm a new subscriber and I just wanted to say thank you for the info. This really helps. God bless you and your family. From Kingston Ontario Canada
I do not read any Bible version that has come from Westcott and Hort. Their text is a hybrid bible from both the Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sianaiticus. Do you know that there are more than FOUR THOUSAND contradictions in those codexes. Because Westcott and Hort did NOT believe in the inspiration of Scriptures, they made a hybrid bible from those two manuscripts. Look for yourself who these two heretics were, and you'll depart from their hybrid bible. Blessings
Loved your study…..these steps that you have used is rightly dividing the word(s). So many different similar ways to study the Bible and we all should find a method that works for us, but these are the principles to get you moving and the Holy Spirit will move you forward.
YES! So many overlapping methodologies that can be used in many different ways. This is just one type of way I study and the Lord blesses me every time I dig in! Thank you for watching and sharing ❤️
I'm looking into this now...which link are you talking about? The link to the download? Or the link to enroll for it? Please email me at info@hisancientways.com and I'll re-send it to you.
After looking into it I see what you're talking about. The confirmation page link is broke but the email still got sent. Look in your inbox or your trash/promotional folder and you should still have it. If not please email me. So sorry for the tech-snafoo.
Sorry about that. This problem can occur for various reasons. Depending on when you submitted the form, there should have been 2 links in the email in case one doesn't open for you maybe the second will? Regardless, email me at info@hisancientways.com and I can re-send you a dropbox link.
Thanks, this was most useful. I remember e-sword from years ago. It seems like an excellent recommendation for me after all these years. What about Logos? Any comment on other offline options?
Thanks for watching! I talk more about this subject including Logos in the original video which you can watch here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GvwMBOq9OuA.htmlsi=aBleHesCF7At6S8M
Coloured pencils work for me, as i had a bleed through once or twice.. ❤❤❤ I do put small notes in my single column KJV. Each verse is on it's own; not paragraphs.
That your previous notes don't make sense to you NOW didn't mean that they were necessarily "wrong" at that time. Just that you are growing in knowledge.
I got your free notetaking guide. I look forward to working through it. And showing it to my daughter who teaches Bible at a local Christian school. I like to use the method that I learned from a RU-vid pastor, I based on the methods of Jonathan Edwards. I say I like to use it but what I really mean is I would like to get started using it. It seems very simple and basic using a journal and within your Bible text. I appreciate your as a teacher and Bible study writer thank you for the work that you put in to making these available to us. ( the speaker button so please excuse any misspellings or etc.)😉
I really like the clean simplicity of the Jonathan Edwards method too which is why I often use it instead of just exclusively journaling in my Bible. It just depends on what Bible I'm working out of and what I'm doing. I have a system for my system😆 But for some people a coding system would really be best, which is why I don't teach a one-size-fits-all methodology. Thanks for watching and sharing and the kind words. I really appreciate it ❤️
Thanks for sharing this app. I just recently found your channel and love your Bible content. Thanks for sharing. I also tried signing up for the free Bible note taking guide and it says it is unavailable. I tried logging in twice. Thanks!
Oh I apologize for the tech snafoo with the note-taking guide. I will look into that immediately. In the meantime please feel free to email me at info@hisancientways.com and I can send a direct link to you. Thank you so much for watching and sharing that with me.
Thank you for this helpful video. I downloaded the e-sword app last night and stayed up way too late reading the Bibles, and finding new Bibles for purchase. Thank you!!
Oh I don't know how many times I've stayed up too late playing with new apps 😆 Glad you like it and I hope it works well for you. Thanks for watching and sharing!
