Honestly transom navigation should be a mode upgrade. This could be done with an extension wire for gps to be on bow of boat and some reversals of the turning algorithms
Battery is the most expensive part of the E motor, Mercury is against 3rd party battery systems...let's do some simple math here...carry the one...yeah they just want to protect their profits.
my understanding is that 750 watts is the equivalent of one horse power. Also, the exorbitant cost was conveniently absent from this video. The setup on that pontoon boat costs much more than the boat, trailer combo.
I’m having an issue when having the trolling motor follow a track. After starting a track if I minimize the app or lock my phone screen the trolling motor goes to speed 0 and I have to use the remote to turn the speed back up. It gets pretty annoying when I’m trying to check the map to see where at in a track I am. Any fix for this? Seems like a bug in the software
I used my finger to draw the line to the spot but what is the next step? I don’t know how to make my autoboat to start and follow my draw map. Can you make another tutorial to show us? Thanka
very dissapointed with tutorials,spotlock is easy, but what does cruise do and explain how the stay on heading works, I need more explanation on plotting tracks and fishing spots,like how toerase previous tracks and start over.
I agree we need a tutorial for the advanced features. TBN mentioned in the comments here that this video took a long time to make so im sure another one for the advanced features doesnt sound fun to make for TBN. However if they really want to show off the cool stuff that autoboat can do i feel like a video needs to be done and it will be worth the effort and im sure it will help sell more autoboat units.
here's the thing, these are cheep, entry level boats. They are sold in Canada and the USA. in Canada they are avail at Candian tire for 1099 or about 800 USD. Generally its about the same as walmarts Pelican john boat. you know what might be fun.. if you could do it "light enough" with all those channels and such, build a slide in slide out "cuddy cabin" 6'5" cabin, mount batteries and such in a drop in point, add a solar panel or 2 to the roof, once plugged in and tied down, you could just plug in an electric motor to it for power, using the cabins batteies and solar.. plus powering internal lights, an inteneral little fan... now you have an optional little camping boat where you can draw up on little islands or riverbanks and sleep there overnight, camping. great for a single person, teen or adult...
Just a small correction on the "10%" speed increments, the app readouts are as follows: 0, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. Having fun with mine!
Needed this thank you! Came across the exact issues you’re mentioning in the video with my AutoBoat. Hoping to it get corrected next time I get out on the water. I really do appreciate your guy’s customer service for making this video and emailing me about it.
The main thing that stops me from purchasing one of these is in the event of being caught out in rain for instance the water cannot drain to the back from the front sections. I learned decades ago that even on a little 12ft johnboat to mount a cheap bilge pump in the back to pump out water if need be as bailing with a cup can get old quick. I also think that keeping one of these simple and light is one of the advantages to this type of boat.
Do you have to disconnect it from the battery after every trip? Or will the unit shut off and stop drawing power? Mine arrives tomorrow. My trolling motor already has its own breaker as well
The GPS unit continues to draw power (LED flashes). Therefore, disconnecting the yellow connector is required. I have to remove the battery/blackbox assy from the kayak to charge the battery so, that takes of that. I store the trolling motor/ GPS unit in my SUV when not in use. Not mentioned in the video but, a 60 amp breaker was recommended by Autoboat to be placed inline the red black box battery cable (consult with Autoboat).
