Thanks. My husband falls a lot. He has PSP. This is a great help. We has a fall alarm but for situations like this, were he slides rather than falls this a such a help. Thanks
No help at all. Why can't I find any videos helping obese people off the floor, especially one with a broken hip. Is there Noone that needs this info but me? WTF
Good point, bariatric patients is a totally separate category. This often requires different modified equipment. Only in the last few years has the health service in Ireland started to recognise this, with the introduction for example of a bariatric ambulance in the Dublin area. But we will add this onto the list of videos. Thanks 👍
If an elderly person is injured on the floor, DONT DO THIS. First you want to make sure you're comfy (put a pillow under their head etc), then call an ambulance and stay with them. Ask them where the pain is and keep them where they are, moving them could cause more damage, which as one of the other comments says, will get you a nasty law suit. This is coming from a qualified care assistant. Only do this with people under the age of 50, otherwise one wrong move could break a bone, dislocate a joint or bruise them. Leave this stuff to the professionals !!!
If you have a cardiac arrest in Ireland don't worry, it only takes an ambulance over an hour to get to you because we have 12 of them serving dublin alone. This advert is complete lies.. "ambulance pulling up now" 😅😅 closest ambulance to me is 40 mins away and i live in Dublin, there was no ambulance in the station once and it had to be sent from another location over an hour away when i had my heart attack.
The techniques we show will only work for some and not for all. Every persons individual needs will need to be considered plus a good understanding of the patients abilities as opposed to their disabilities as it’s what their abilities are will help decide on what’s the best intervention to take. All physical patient movement procedures come with risk and the first step of any carer is to let the patient do it themselves.
Good video. Have you got any suggestions on how to lift someone from ground to a wheelchair who has an amputated leg? My 90yo neighbour falls over a lot. Often in the toilet as it's a slippery surface. His wife often calls me to help. I don't mind helping, but I would like to protect myself & the patient.
Unfortunately the technique used on the video only works when the patient has the strength to get up with assistance. Once you find yourself with a patient such as your neighbor the risks of injury to both you and the patient are very high. Best practice is to get assistance such as calling 999 or 112 and get help. A hoist is another option as it can be used to get someone of the floor. A hoist should only be used by trained persons and the patient has not suffered any injury from the fall. A big problem for you is when the patient falls especially on a hard surface there’s a good chance of injury such as fractures and dislocations.

If an elderly has fallen...do NOT move them or help them get up....call an AMBULANCE. Just because they say or seem to want to get up on their own or with your help...REMEMBER many times a fracture or internal injury or pain will NOT be evident until the next day....Remember you're NOT a medical doctor NOR do you have x-ray eyes to determine how serious is a NO pain fall OR to determine IF they may have had a mini quickie stroke. You personally will be liable for $$$$ or the company you represent will be liable BECAUSE YOU did not call an AMBULANCE. IT is wrong to Roll the dice and help them up instead of calling an Ambulance
First step is always make sure an assessment is carried out then implement a care plan. If a person is “helpless” then the only way to assist them safely is to use a mechanical aid such as a hoist.
MY wife is lkeft side paralyzed so getting her to the back of the armchair is tough. I use a 'slider' sheet and grip under backside and pull up and back. This takes a lot of muscle and being in my 60's with heart failure and an ICD means I won't be able to do it for long.
Brilliant thorough video. Thank you! One thing; the audio is quite poor. I recommend the Rode Wireless Go. It's an easy to clip to you mic that picks up great audio away from the camera.
You are genius very shot videos and more useful and good demonstration of moving and handling you are too good than other videos. but bed is low in height. 👏❤
This demonstration was for instructors who are having to train staff who don't have access to a profiling bed. Carers working in the community. Other videos provided demonstrate when a profiling bed is available.
