Hello, and welcome to our channel! I am an Urban Explorer, photographer and Urbex RU-vid creator with an academic background and passion for history, anthropology and English with a focus on Celtic Studies. I grew up in a creepy looking 1800s home that later became the abandoned "haunted house" of the town. In 2016 I made the decision to start photographing and capturing on video these abandoned locations that I explored until then as a hobby.
My recent focus has been on once great abandoned places, such as abandoned mansions, asylums and lost places. Currently I travel across the US, UK and Ireland to allow you to experience these places through me. I hope you enjoy the journey as we shine a light upon these forgotten places and bring their abandoned history back to life one last time.
Looks like Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay. All of those former military buildings either have been or in the process of being restored and turned into exclusive condos.
I find it so hard to believe that such grand buildings with so much history just get abandoned. So big and beautiful and amazing. True medieval history. So shameful. Those vaults just inside the door look like modern concrete. What's up with that? Holy crap that hole under the coverstones is a lot deeper than expected! 16:25 And I think I see a longbone amongst the rubble in your second look from the other side. At an angle in the back right corner, one end being under the mess at the far end, the other end resting against the right-side wall. What person desecrates graves like that? Seriously: What kind of person?
It is seemingly widespread in many countries, but still always shocking. I think the Victorian renovations not only reinforced the vault, but also sealed off the staircase.
Fantastic video thanks. What sort of lunatic steals peoples bones? So totally gross. They should all be treated with respect. I really enjoyed the history you give, love your videos. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
strange that a tower collapses on one side, perhaps a bad foundation? nice picking for thieves those old rich ones had a lot off nice stuff on them down under.......................................they also left small traps for the next thief who came after them 😀
My thought was it may have been a later poor quality extension, so right along those lines. I do think the thieves got away with a bit of a haul of valuables.
Thankyou, it is nice to see you back again! If I could get my hands on these vandals and hooligans, they'd never want to see a burial vault again in their lives! Society has altered immensely since I was young, many years ago, and I don't know what the answer is concerning these people who desecrate the place of burial! I noticed that here were a few Yew trees around the tower and graves, and they will likely be cut down if the tower and land have been bought, but I hope the remains of those who are interred in the ground, are taken and reburied in a safe peaceful place. Once again, your attention to detail regarding the history of places you visit is excellent. I look forward to future videos. ...Tich.
My hope is some skeletons were removed for reburial, but I think they are likely stolen. I am curious what the future holds for the tower. Thanks for exploring it with us!
What is wrong with these vandals? What do they do with the skeletons that they have stolen? I hope the tower is bought back to life. It's a lovely place, quiet and calming. Thank you for sharing
The slaughterhouse had ceiling & walls caving in but windows in tact. So cool. The airport, turned dance hall had a really ornate wood door for either of those places. Would have liked that as my front door. More great explores. Loving y'all's content, camera work & voice.
It was a hospital, people died there. You know its haunted!! Love this!! Great camera control, you pan slow & your not shaking it about, great narrator! Love the voice. Great explore! New sub, look forward to watching more.
I almost have three times. Once in the dark. It has to be one of the most dangerous things about exploring abandoned places. The worst are wells where the wooden cover is rotten and ground level.
8:58 Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City and formed in 1981. Founding members Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up.
Such a shame these places are abandoned. Such a shame they weren’t looked after. Really loved the video. Thank you for taking me along. Please take care
The guy who wanted too make it a museum bought it without looking for sure, rot, termites and woodworm are having a blast, very nice decay for the rest of it, but dont think there will be a revisit eh lol nice explore.
Like I said...if someone decided to fix even part of this place, the owners would be in trouble. You can't just take over someone's property because it's abandoned. Here is a case in point. Other countries act like laws don't exist because they are using it to make a video for sale. What world do these people come from anyway that they aren't answerable to someone for what they do in the name of RU-vid...
@@DesertifyUrbex If you ever want to experiment with new thumbnail styles to match your evolving content, I’ve got some fresh ideas that might catch your eye.
Ok the slaughterhouse exploration seems last minute shouldve included the abandoned house u found the number of the slaughterhouse in. Also some history about it is one reason i like ur videos
@DesertifyUrbex Sadly it looks like all three places have gone a little to far for much urbexing to be done. I miss your filming finesse here. Thank you 😊
Is the place up for grabs? Why not reestablish the whole area good place for a homeless encampment or affordable housing but do not disturb the historical aspects of the place
Where is this in New England? I could use a vacation to check out a run down quarry and get away from work. Also... Billy is a Doo Doo head. we can all agree on that.
Back in 1998 and 1999 I helped Russ and his wife Gerry, rest in peace, rebuild the house that still stands in Monson. We removed an addition that had been added sometime in the 1940's or 50's and brought the house back to as close as it could be to its original state. We worked some long hours, with nothing but hand tools putting the structure back together. The addition had removed a large portion of the original roof in the center, rear of the house. We hand cut and fit new purlins into the original mortises and tried to keep the repairs as authentic as possible. We also removed a fair bit of things that weren't original to the house, like wiring and plumbing. If you stand in front of the house, you can see it was built in two sections. The left half is the original, early part, mostly built with American Chestnut in its posts and beams. The right half was added some time (I believe) in the early 1800's though I could be mistaken. You'll see that the right side has a basement, albeit a fairly shallow one, while the left side is unexcavated underneath.
