Bc the Good Felix Mendelssohn, a 101% believer in Jesus, converted from obaervant Judaism, imparts that piece to me, you, and all persons of good will no matter the race, the color, language, nation, class. Like God! The one true God who is "no respecter of persons" says the scripture. A Gospel (Goid News) that is free and without price. Mendelssohn knew this. People forget that this solo is supposed to be like Taps, a haunting funeral knell that calls the Reaper to attention. "Trauermarsch" translates from the German into "Funeral March." That's the intent here. And I love his interpretation of this. Soft, pained, but focused. And with a German trumpet, that's perfect.
