No matter how many reeds I try(very expensive hand made ones, all the Vandoren line etc.) no matter if I try to play on something else for few months or a year. It's just like coming home to play the V-12 reeds. There is just nothing that beats these reeds in even scale, respond and focus. It's like having the right balanced of resistance in your setup to drive through a large concert hall. Ps. They also fit the most wide range of mouthpieces of any other reeds. Ps. Ps. I would personally use a bit softer reed for the acoustics in this room.
He's got some great technique! I'd love to watch his growth as he matures and his dynamic range/tone expands. At age 13 this is crazy impressive. Only blue skies ahead for Baptiste!!!
The understanding of phrasing, interpretation and dynamics @ 13 is phenomenal in itself and we haven’t even talked about his technique! Probably already in the gifted program at the French conservatory and studying with the top professors. Can only imagine what his peers think of him as there’s some in that program who won’t see that piece until their senior year maybe.
Baptiste is the son of Franck. He studied with Véronique Fèvre at CRR Saint-Maur near Paris. Then from 2022 CRR Paris (Regional Conservatory) with Florent Héau and Alexandre Chabod. He also studied piano, percussion and conducting...
This kid already is playing at symphony level! Age, 13? Stanley Drucker was 16 when he became 1st chair NY Phil. When I was his age, I took from Stanley's wife and in Stanley's studio was a display box with probably 100 boxes of Vandorens! Always looking for that elusive reed! But I also studied with Stanley's teacher and I can say with authority, this boy, depending on his reading level, plays better than the majority of symphony players which is completely sick, lol! God bless him!
