Welcome! I upload obscure tunes that I feel are great, but barely anyone has heard them. Feel free to request/suggest things I could upload, preferably as long as it's not already on RU-vid.
Also check out the channel Tech Product Bangers, which is focused on music from tech products (ringtones, synth demos, clipart music, etc). I previously uploaded this stuff here but decided to split it off into its own channel. Likewise, I also have a channel called Obscure Jewels that uploads individual tracks from full albums in large quantities, as well as other things that don't fit here.
(tracks from video games/other media will be uploaded under the game name; tracks not from video games will be uploaded under the artist name)
manabu namiki! it was fun to hear some soundtracks i'd enjoyed previously, but not known were done by him (namco museum ds, opoona) thanks for introducing me to some good tunes!
Correct. Namiki had a comprehensive worklist on his old website. VGMdb also helps to catalog composers' works, and Namiki's worklist there is getting more and more complete, thanks to the efforts of me and others.
@@kaishmuper Namiki personally confirmed that he did this track (the only one he did). Iwata also provided some info in an interview from 2007: web.archive.org/web/20070627082749/iwata.cocoebiz.com/interviews/interview06.shtml
It's a great track, but I've included a lot here and I strived for variety, and I had already included Frozen Party which was the track that actually introduced me to his music!
@@underratedbangers6053 I thought Degeneracy was my introduction to Namiki's music, but then learned he composed the original music in Namco Museum DS, which I played lots of when I was young, and then learned he did the music in Fantasy Zone II DX/W which I've also played alot. I was shocked to learn I've loved his music much longer than I first thought!
Since this game uses MusicPlayer2000, it'd make more sense to say "sequences" instead of MIDI (even though mp2k sequences are midi-like and converted at compilation), and "samples" or "samplebank" instead of soundfont. Tbh i can't think of any GBA games that use soundfonts for their samples, but I know a handful just have standard MIDI sequences in the ROM. WarioWare is one, its sound driver is definitely a variant of MP2K, but because of the sequences just being mid files it's incompatible with all MP2k ripping/playing tools (which probably all expect the lack of a file system). I don't know what provoked that I just like rambling about this stuff :P
You're right, though tbf I just used "soundfont" because it's become a generic term at this point, and not so much the game literally using SF2s. Of course it doesn't literally use MIDIs either but as you said, they're MIDI-like and the original tracks would've been written as MIDIs to begin with before being converted by Motoyama and Namiki.
@@underratedbangers6053 I tend to avoid the terms because there's lots of misinformation about GBA ripping online. Many people assume tools that convert sequences back into midi and the samples into sf2 files are just "ripping" from the game, partly because of old bad tutorials (which were outdated by the time they were uploaded). I wish I could make a better tutorial to avoid misinformation, especially for DS, but I don't have the resources. Regardless, I just avoid giving people the expectation that most GBA games have mids and sf2s floating in their file systems, mainly because most don't even have file systems.
Yeah, totally fair. I suppose I was just intentionally using "dumbed down" language here, might not have been a good idea lol. I do agree that stuff like tutorials shouldn't oversimplify things and instead provide clarifications.
Just found out this was the same singer featured on ぱんださんようちえん under the pseudonym Mahiru Sonoda, her voice definitely sounded familiar! For most of her voice actress roles she usually goes as 理多 or sometimes 平井理子, including another song with Shinji Hosoe where he mentioned her as "one of his favorite divas" ahaha
oh, you didn’t understand me correctly the SMAF sound chip that been used in 2002 Samsung phones. I need sound font that includes the samples from the SMAF sound chip that’s been used in 2002 Samsung phones like the SGH-T 100
I wonder if i can teleport to japan and go to the largest thirftstore to buy games like this. They kept their used products in mint condiction and place a note to tell you whats wrong with it. Maybe one day...... Time to set Sail!!!!
