The car channel of Twitter's @Channel205UK. I make videos with my cars attending shows and events and random tinkering along with extra content like railways and history.
In my fleet I have a Peugeot 205 XL 1.6i Auto called Eddie, a Citroën C1 Airscape called Bertie and the latest member called Rio - an import to the UK from Brazil a ultra cool Peugeot Hoggar Escapade - the South America market pickup truck. I believe this to be the ONLY example outside of South America.

I have a number of books available on Amazon, including some super adult colouring books of cars and trucks.
A great selection of Peugeots - even better when the sun came out. My parents had a 204 break around 1979 and I'm sure it had the weight info on the front wing. I'd just assumed that all Peugeot estates of this era had them.
Wednesday 19th June 2024 for the next event. It is a charity gathering so bring some cash to buy raffle tickets, chuck in to the donation bucket and buy a burger or two!
The only automatic car I would buy is a peugeot 205 automatic. But I rather buy a manual peugeot 205. Hopefully soon in the next 2 months or so. Here in germany there are many still on the market. I want one in white with no sunroof. Preferably a XS or 1.4 because they have a rev counter. But I haven't found the right one yet as they all have a sunroof. : ( Beautiful roads in france.
I think this might have been a relative success in europe! Here in Sweden we got the Fiat Strada, which was the pickup version of the brazillian Fiat Pailo. Pretty poopular with excavator or loader operators due to low cost and being cheap to run. Just saw that the Hoggar has a 406 doorhandle as handle for the tailgate XD
They look the same however the rear of the lamp units including the body mounting points are different. If it was that easy to swap them out to UK 207 versions I would. I might yet buy some UK 207 ones and see if I can take them apart for conversion parts.
@@Channel205UK They are the same used in the facelift 206+ in Europe (sold in Latin America as 207), but I think they were all left hand drive (not sold in the UK).
I absolutely love this! I used to dream as a teen to import one outside the Mercosur and here it is… probably the only one in the entire old continent!
7:05 i'm willing to bet that corrosion was caused by the use of our sugar-cane ethanol. That fuel contains water in its composition and sometimes water accumulate in the back mufflers because its never hot enough to evaporate. The exhaust on flex-fuel or ethanol only cars always corrode from the inside out, specially if you use poor quality fuel
My family exclusively uses ethanol for years and I didn’t saw corrosion because of it, usually I saw those kind of corrosion on cars that are parked outside on the grass, mine is parked over a cement floor and didn’t corroded. Only the regular surface rust spots on a few parts.
That's interesting to know thank you. The exhaust gas does have a smell to it which I assume comes from it still running ethanol remaining in the tank as I have not yet put any UK fuel in to it.
Here in Brazil we use 100% ethanol, except where gasoline is less expensive, it varies from state to state. First flex cars had a gasoline starter small tank, the but by 2010 I believe most manufacturers had eliminated it by replacing with some glow plugs (like diesel, right?) to warn the ethanol on cold starting. I don’t know, I’m from Rio de Janeiro and what is considered cold here is anything bellow 30°C
This Hoggar is equipped with the "cold start" fuel tank, it is a tank with a red lid. This system was replaced by the Flex Start system, which uses heating in the injection nozzles themselves and/or also heating candles in the injection nozzle flute.
@@Channel205UK on the 2 weeks of cold we have in Rio de Janeiro (between 9~14°C on my area) my UP never had problems to start on ethanol. Starting on cold was a known problem on old cars from the 70s and 80s, on the mid 90s I believe it was a thing from the past.
Do you need to do any work on your car to match the UK regulations ? It could be great to do a full recap of all the things you have to do to register it.
Sou brasileira tenho uma ,não troco por nada, melhor picape na minha opinião,e o melhor quase ninguém tem , manutenção euesma faço , as peças são fáceis de encontrar todas do 207,
My other cars are a 1993 Peugeot 205 XL 1.6i Automatic and a 2021 Citroën C1 Airscape which I bought new so one of the last built by Toyota post the PSA withdraw.
Congratulations!! I’m a Peugeot collector in Brazil and I can understand the feeling of receiving such a rare car to your region. I don’t know if there’s any other Hoggar in Europe apart from yours and the one in Peugeot Museum in Souchaux (red as well). As the one in the museum is not for regular use, yours is the only one being used properly in the roads!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Interesting you mention the Peugeot Museum. There is a photo online showing a black Hoggar in their stores, when I asked them about it they said it no longer exists. They told me it was donated by Peugeot to the museum for spare parts only and it seems now dismantled. I have never seen any evidence of another Hogger in the museum, if you have any more information on this I would love to know.
@@Channel205UK Sorry my friend for the late response, I was traveling and just saw your comment today. Indeed there’s a video of a portuguese journalist visiting the Reserve in the Archives near Souchaux, in Herimouncourt. Check the link below in the minute 6:35 of the video and you will see the Hoggar in the collection. While the curator speaks in French, the journalist speaks in Portuguese and English lol, you can try to activate the automatic captions of RU-vid to try to understand a little. What I got is that this Hoggar was the one that went to Europe for tests before the launching in Brazil. And after that Peugeot donated to the Museum.
Indeed. Peugeot built the 206 PLUS hatchback in Sochaux which the Hoggar is based on, however they snubbed the Brazilian development of the pickup truck for Europe's markets.
@@Channel205UK Just as a curiosity, in Brazil, the 206+ was called 207, as the European 207 was never built here. For economic reasons, to launch the European 207 here would require big investments in the plant and it would be expensive compared to other car manufacturers compact cars, so Peugeot made the facelift in the 206 and launched as 207. That’s why maybe you will see some Brazilian people commenting that the Hoggar is the “207” pickup.
@@Channel205UK Another interesting fun fact. As the Hoggar uses the taillights of the 1007, and the 1007 was the last Peugeot designed by Pininfarina, we could say that the Hoggar is a 3% Pininfarina designed car 😂😂😂
Hi, I have only recently come across your excellent video of the Popham 2023 Classic Show. I would just like to thank you for your kind remarks when referring to my and my partners two cars I .E: The Mini Pick-up Truck and the Mercedes-Benz 190c Saloon. We have owned the Pick-Up for over 30 years and it has become like a family member referred to by everyone as Del Boy because of the Reg. The Mercedes we have had for around 6 years and lavished quite a bit of effort on it to make it road worthy. Cheers, Chris
