If the weather is good (no rain/clouds), then do Hospitales for the dramatic viewss. But Pola de Allende is also a beautiful walk with more variety of landscape.
MysticWalker I enjoyed your video and relived this epic day on the Camino Primitivo watching it. I have walked both the lower route to Pola and the upper Hospitales route. Both are fantastic in their own ways and I agree that the Pola route is wonderful!
You had some very long days of walking! I also did the Primitivo and finished a few weeks before you. Great videos - thanks for sharing. Big Al Southside
Were there any people allowed *inside* the chamber of the Newgrange burial tomb this Solstice?. Obviously you couldn't fit everyone attending the event in there, That would be a big ask! The custodians of the monument usually have a "waiting list" which is about 10 years long!
The lucky lottery winners were able to go inside this year and saw some of the light make its way down the tunnel. After sunrise, anyone could queue up to go inside for a visit. Close to Newgrnage is Dowth, where people gather for Solstice sunset approx after 2.30 pm. The OPW had promsied to open the passage for visitors but didn't. We could still see the light travel through the momnument from outside though. It's well worth a visit!
