It is not necessary to have a closed or watertight surface. Actually you can be missing data and utilize the tools in Design X to create features based off the scan data. Let us know if you have any questions or would like to see more videos.

@@JonathanCalkins Yes I can see where that would be very useful. We don't specialize in the pattern making side so this might be more geared to the end user. We do focus our specialty in 3D scanning for data capture. If we do come across something like this we will definitely post it. Thanks for the great nice comment.
Global is suggested when you align mesh data together. With the new Artec Ray II all the scans come in together but you should run global right before running fusion.

i wonder if scantech will ever have instant mesh generation like creaform. thats whats i keep waiting on. was told before i purchased my scanner last year that it was coming but i think they were just trying to sell me scantech scanner. which they did
Hello Shawn. We are using the SIMSCAN30 but the SIMSCAN42 is awesome and should work the same. I think this might have been a pervious version comared to the updated software. I found this to be brilliant and underrated. Thank you very much! This is actually the only video showing this method that I can find. Every other video is sketching on meshes which is terrible if you're trying to interpolate between overlapping meshes! Plus parametric freedom is full control which I've come to appreciate as a design engineer.

The purpose for scanning the underneath of the car is to create data so that the customer can create aftermarket exhaust systems. The data can also be used to create skid plates or design for air flow analysis. This specific process was for aftermarket exhaust. This 3D measuring arm / scanner is not meant to scan a room. You can look at our other videos and look up Artec Ray. That would be better for scanning a room or building. It can scan up to 110 meters away.
When photo registration is started, it is completed with the phrase ‘Photo registration algorithm complete, time elapsed: 36.8 seconds’. However, the Error value does not appear on the right side of the Photos and when I proceed with texture mapping as in the video, the message “No valid texture frames weere found.” please what should i do

Very useful video. May I ask that in 2D Dimentions, can I measure the area of the cross section I have created? Because I do not know in Compute Area, when you choose cross-sectional area, whether the results represent the surface area on one side of the cross section.
