Now l have this problem : alarm 1 and 2 displays on the screen are not working anymore after they were blinking lower and lower weeks after weeks... they were displaying enough each time l removed the power line from sector (during minutes, then seconds.. enough to know if it's on/off), but l can't see them anymore.. so l don't know if alarm 1 and 2 are "on" or "off".. wich is sad because every other functions and displays are working perfectly.
Hello I would like to wake up JBL horizon 2 new, but at startup we can see written around the date and below a little word marked demo mode (which then fades) the time the date everything remains displayed but impossible to adjust anything no button works that then-I do to remove the demo mode?
God damn motherfucking Google and edge I'm asking over and over the fucking light on the back of it how the fuck do you turn it off once it's on it's impossible I'm going to smash this fucking piece of shit JBL alarm clock nowhere on the internet or the instructions does it say anything but here is the snooze button here is the fucking light button press it boom now it's trying to get a snooze on it it won't turn off unless I unplug it how the fuck do you turn it off What a piece of fucking shit product
thank you Sir.i had this unit for nearly 4 years and the backlight was a pain in my ...,,🤣 according to your instruction, opened the front panel with a plastic tool easily and soldered two pins together,so the light in max always and can be read even in mid day in desert👍🏻
@@Doctor-yr3uy Found a better solution posted here; hold the scan button for 3 secs to select brightness !!! This should be noticed in the main topic post
i broke off the sensor and just connected the 2 terminals together. could it be done that way? the screen is now always bright, but was it ok to do it this way? Please answer. I have horizon 2 whai you use diod?
Great find, not even manual points to this! Options for LCD brightness on Horizon 2 are 1 through 5, and AUTO. Too bad that AUTO setting seems to go from 5 in bright environment, to 1 in poorly lit room, where time is hardly visible. It should go to at least to 2 as a transition. I am sure this could be solved with firmware update. Firmware is officially available on JBL site (it's a .rel file) - maybe a challenge for hacker?! Would be greatly appreciated.
you know what? Someone posted here to push the scan button for 3 seconds and you can adjust the brightness between 1-5 and auto. Go figure! lol (Worked for me)
This is awesome. I lived with the dim clock for 2 years and jbl says it cannot be changed. Chanced upon this and now I can see the time in the night and early morning. Thanks so much. BTW, I was temped to try 200K for a dimmer light but used the tested 180K instead. Do not fancy opening it up too often.
The quality of sound is nice, however it is so bad in software.. for example I can't figure out how do I set the stations. Tried it per manual and many other ways, but no luck.
Thanks for your awesome video. With the 180k resistor, the it has raised the brightness floor a little too much.. Meaning it's a little bit TOO bright at night now.. If I was to try to find a happy medium, would I use a higher resistance value, or lower? I put an 82k resistor on there, thinking that less resistance would do the trick, but it seems like it's constant full brightness now. Thanks again.
haha destiny brought me here 12 hours after l bought it (btw l'm very happy of if) thx for the tuto !! I'll probably try it ! Others yt videos also mentions yours because seems like most of people are happy of that product but complains about the dim fact problem :-)
the jbl hang and dont respond to any click. and if i disconnect power and return it it works fine for a minutes then hang. and recommendation for root cause?
For now i just short cut the two pole of the photoresistor. But the light is full power. I'll buy a new one and see if it work. If it das I'll leave the ref here...

@@theminimalist- Hey. The trouble was not this. For me it was a question of light that was extremely low for all digits. But you have to know my JBL finally broke and I had to put it in the bin... For me this model is not ok. Disappointement.
I just completed this modification. No need to remove anything on the back, just the front. For maximum brightness all the time simply connect the two leads of the light sensor together.
Awesome advice. Did this yesterday.. took 10 minutes.. worked like a charm. The auto-dimming was my biggest complaint about this device. Thanks for posting this!
I took mine apart in order to reduce the volume - it was WAY TOO LOUD. Put a 47 ohm resistor in series with each speaker driver. It's much nicer now. I really wish the alarm setting had a max volume.
I just got a Horizon with the Sleep function for my son. The lowest volume 01 is loud enough to hear in other rooms :( I had a SPST switch I put in parallel with (2) 12ohm resistors in series (24ohms), combining the R and L negatives. Worked good, but not enough. I have on order a DPST switch and 2 120ohm 1w resistors, should be perfect. With the switch "off", the resistors lower the volume, but for full volume just switch to "on".
Awesome video! Hey, is the light sensor just not and "on off" switch? Could i either cut it out or just "jump" it? Is that 180k resister necessary for this hack?
Thanks a lot mate! Your tip worked like a charm. One remark for future modders - my version of alarm clock had some "improvement" from manufacturer. Whole "window-mirror" part was mounted with double sided adhesive tape. As soon as I tried to remove it with screwdriver it started to crack. Hopefully this crack did not reach inner window, and its not visible after reassembly. Please use your hairdryer to warm it up before you will try to peel it off.
Hello friend. This is amazing. I am looking for something like this for months. Is there anyway for you to make a detailed video explaining this better? I would like to fix the low brightness in the dark, but I was not able to understand how to install that thing in your hand. Many thanks!
