My name is Ben Hedges, AKA the Credit Shifu, I started this channel about credit cards, and luxury travel, but now it has grown to include personal finance, crypto, and self improvement. Come along for the ride!
My wife got the VX last month, on her first attempt. I was denied in 2022 then again in 2023, so I got the CITI trifecta. Our salaries and credit are so similar, I have no idea why they rejected me.
Lots of negativity in the comments, but I thought there was good information here to use as data points. Policies are always changing, so, everyone needs to independently verify, but it's great to highlight ten things to keep in mind that could be potential barriers.
How long do i need to wait to apply for a new credit card? I got a venture x last month and i also want to get a chase sapphire reserve. Do i need to wait?
Hello. I don’t believe the two-card rule hold true anymore. I have four personal cards open with them within a three year timeframe. Platinum (first opened to build credit) Quicksilver (opened 6 months after, and later updated to VentureOne) SavorOne (opened 6 months after Quicksilver) VentureX (opened a year later after SavorOne, for lounge access). Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tips, was able to transfer credit limit from my Quicksilver to Savor one card, didnt know it was possible til i saw your video, thanks again 👍🏼
Might be an additional bucket for people that use their cards regularly. I have the Venture X, SavorOne, and Venture One (downgraded from Venture Rewards). They have always seemed to be happy to let me close cards and open new ones for sign up bonuses as well.
There is a separate area on the Capital One website to check if you are prequalified for the Venture X card. That card will never appear under the general prequalify page.
I don’t know how you haven’t gotten approved for the Venture X yet…I mean I’m 21, make 44k a year, paid $300 in rent at the time I got approved bc roommates, and I have a $10k limit on the Venture X. Maybe that predatory approach Capital One supposedly has isn’t all that crazy to believe.
Hi! Do you happen to know if I can sign up for the Venture card if I already have an existing Venture X account? I really just want Ventures sign up bonus 😅
I’m 52 hoping to end the rat race by 60 with above $1M. I know money is a liability to be exchanged for assets with real value like real estate (properties for rent) stocks (dividends) bonds (interest) But, what is it with bitcoin? I hear a lot about it and I'd love to diversify my portfolio.
look at the charts, bitcoin has outperformed every stock and banking product ever developed even after multiple pullbacks over the last decade. not a financial advisor but I know what i'm saying
The key is diversification. Personally, I delegate my investing to an advisor, cos my job doesn't permit the time to perform market analysis myself. Thankfully, my once ago stagnant portfolio has now 5X in barely 4 years, summing up almost 7 figure as of today.
I went from no money to lnvest with to busting my A** off on Uber eats for four months to raise about $20k to start trading with Evelyn Infurna. I am at $128k right now and LOVING that you have to bring this up here
i'm blown away! more info please? i am a young adult living in Miami where i've encountered several millionaires, and my goal is to become one... they all seem to be involved in either real estate, stocks, or crypto
There is a separate pre approval tool for the venture x. My theory is that all the other cards are part of their bucketing system with investors while the venture x is outside that since it’s a visa infinite with a minimum 10k cl
My mother used the pre-approval tool and was offered the VentureOne, Venture, and Venture X to choose from. She was given a $30k limit so it might be that if you are not offered the Venture X they’re already telling you you’re getting a limit under $10k. Just a thought but I found it interesting.
I accepted an upgrade from Venture One to Venture. I’ve been putting a lot of spend on this card and I’m also gardening for a year. Next year this time I hope to upgrade/product change to the Venture X.
I’d recommend you actually apply straight for the venture x to get the sign up bonus and product change your venture into a savor one. (That’s what I did and loving it)
It’s kind of a catch 22. I don’t use my Capital One cards at all because the benefits are not great. I maybe would with a higher level card, but doesn’t seem worth it.
I have two quicksilver cards, Venture One (previously Savor One), and the Venture X. If you have the Quicksilver, Savor or the Savor One, & Venture X. You can do a Credit Line Transfer from the Quicksilver Card to the other cards & keep the Quicksilver for small monthly bills to transfer the cash back rewards to the other cards or hold it on for a later determined date
Was on the phone with capital one yesterday trying to upgrade my Quicksilver. ( was under the impression of the 2 personal card limit) Was not approved for the upgrade but they told me to apply and that you can hold up to 5 credit cards
The absolute worst thing about Capital One is that after they pull from 3 credit agencies, they still demand a copy of your state driver’s license and your SS card. They know this will stop a lot of folks dead in their tracks. I will never give them any opportunity to have my life turned upside down since so many places have been hacked.
I had heard elsewhere that if you freeze your Experian credit report and Capital One is only left with two hard pulls that they would still approve you. I tried it out by applying for the Venture X in April after freezing my Experian report and was approved. I was notified by Experian that they rejected a credit report request from Capital One but still received instant approval for the card.
1:44 Bank of America warned me to use a card or else it would be closed. It was a few months in advance of the closure date so it wasn't an issue and naturally I had plenty of time to use it. This would have been a 2-year inactivity period, for reference.
