I don't own any of these songs whatsoever. Just a fan.
OMG I haven't heard this in ages. I suddenly remembered the lines and the tune for the part the lord was asking why she left her house and lands but not the name this morning and went on a hunt to find where they came from. I actually learned it from a music class in Nigeria over 20 years ago when I was in junior secondary. it was like a bone stuck in my throat till I found the right folk song 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
love it! all greeting to martin galvin from cork. my beloved friend. hell i havent seen you for such time.. i hope ur good. all love and luck from czechia!
as an American, if I get extradited to the UK because of Social Media posts, I'll be singing of this song. I'm ready for US vs UK round 3, how about you?
@@Imyourhuckleberry01 you need to pay attention the lyrics "Where the loyal drums do beat, And the loving English feet walked all over us" the British are also known as the English.
@@LUNITICWILL And you need to learn your Irish history bro, you think the "loving English Feet" is a reference to "the English dont you"? lol, So, tell me, what the the name of the song writers grandmother who he hated and tell me why did he hate her? and her name was... ???? Besides the song takes place in the mid 1920's, what "English feet" were walking all over the Irish during the Irish Free State era bro? lol
I was born in Belfast, just off the Shankill, protestant boy was I. I returned to Ireland in 2000, went to Dublin and put my fingers into the bullet holes in the Chief Post Office. When will Ireland be one - we are one people, why are we not one nation????!
A sense of dignity, steadfastness and a call for independence I hear in this amazing song. Freedom fighters from India, Punjab collaborated with Irish against the common opressor from London. Much love and peace 🇮🇪
I am a Japanese person who is not good at English.I'm using a translation app to write this sentence.I know this song is not peaceful, but even if I don't understand the lyrics, I can still see that this song is very cool and wonderful. I listen to this song every day.
@@therobustempyrean1436 Well for a start the song takes place during the Irish Free State era, (Stephen was of course was anti treaty) so these "Irish Free Staters" (Michael Collins and his pro treaty mob) were all "traitors" as far as he was concerned so the people being insaluted in the song were Irish not British, so what it got to do with the British Goverment and who is Frank in the song and who is Chrissy in the song and who is Rosy in the song? and who are these "Black and Tans" being called "Black and Tans" in the song then? Off you go lad....over to you....
Of course The English in the song belong in Ireland, she was born in Ireland and was Irish so why doesn't she belong in Ireland? And if you dont understand my comment or the question then you really do not understand what the song is really about?
@@therobustempyrean1436 lol, So, who is Frank in the song, who is Rosy in the song and who is Chrissy in the song, and during what era do you think the song takes place, lets start there shall we, off you go lad over to you...
Although I am not Irish, this song gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful country, with so much history, so much struggle and so many injustices, GO IRELAND UP!
30 something American here, Catholic with no connection to Ireland. My toddler son and I have this song on repeat and song at the top of our lungs every time we go for a car ride.
@@Imyourhuckleberry01 you don’t have to be a citizen of the UK and/or the Republic of Ireland to know about Irish history, Irish republicanism, Irish War of Independence, etc.
