I found this video to find out how to remove the baffles. I ain't putting any quieter ones in lmfao why would I want a quiet bike never mind a quiet HARLEY???????????
Back in 1990 I had a Sporty and the way the baffles were in the sliencers was a joke - just a plug midway the length of it.... so I took the silencers off and put a broom handle in one end and banged it hard on the ground, the welded in bung just came out real easy. My current bikes (2006 Sporty and 2010 Dyna) had a similar thing but the Catalyst made that a bit of a problem so I bought an extended drill bit ( that's just a drill bit fitted with a shaft to extend it) of the right diameter off ebay and drilled the baffle plate out, stuck it in the other end to put a big hole though the catalitic converter thing and hey presto, pipes that breath and you can see through them ! They are less restrictive and still fairly quiet and best of all it's cheap - a Harley dealer in London showed me what to do.
Hi, did you ever fit the forward controls? If so, how was the riding position with the combination of Hollywood bars and forward foot controls. I'm thinking of doing something similar.
@@perryedsell3119 I did fit them, yes. I'm glad that I did the forward controls. It was an ok riding position but I eventually went to 14 inch apes which was a fantastic riding position with the forwards.
Love my hd batt tender . I no longer have a hd but the tender which can be changed from lead to agm to li ion batteries is great as I have all 3 on different bikes. Always attached to some batt and has not failed in almost 3 years.
Will this work still with EU Harley's, bought a 2022 street bob and it has four O2 sensors on the exhaust two front and two at the rear and in the same situation want short shots at some point (stage one) but money is very short right now
Some years ago I made 'inside tube' 500mm long from SS net, with 3-4mm holes and wrapped with ceramic wool... The noice came down around+20-27db, depending on length of the tube.. I could not feel any difference on the power.. yet neighbors were extremely happy..
Ok... Yes i know this post is 3 yrs old, but i just put 14's on my 2003 softail, and i love the flipped mirrors look, but all i can see is my armpits.😂 Any suggestions? I want to keep them flipped, but i also want to see behind me, lol TIA!
Hahaha, I totally understand. I had to get the mirrors with the longer arms and angle the mirrors more vertically than horizontally to overcome the same problem
Super Q aren't good if you have cams with bigger than stock overlap. On decel reversion popping in the pipes spits back into the inlet/carb. Yes they leave low end torque but it's not good to lug at low revs. 500 miles in will be a lot louder under load. Getting them back out after the plastic has melted is a long job. There is no shortcut to digging the fiberglass out with a hooked wire. GLOVES..... Outside. Really, the glass fibre dust will make everything sparkly for weeks. Next time I would definitely take my advice.
Do you need a tuner when removing baffles or since it’s before the o2 sensors I’ll be fine without a tuner? I’m assuming with a full exhaust obviously need a tuner. But what about this
Totally agree had some straight throughs on a sportsters and couldnt take the racket on a long ride, so returned it to standard, stopped all the poping as well.
I have a Bagger, impressed by the performance of the FXDR, I do think the air cleaner, exhaust and turn signals are butt ass ugly though...I had a Kawi ZL1000 before I bought my FLHTI, only good part of the Kawi was it was fast as hell....I love my bagger, it could use a little more balls though...lol!
Great job. I have the same bike and my old bike was also a Street Bob lol. I hated its stock exhaust as well. It’s silly that we have to spend more money to get a better sound especially after breaking the bank buying new bikes. You can also wrap the fibreglass mat with Saran Wrap as that’s what my mini grenade baffles had on them.
love the look and the sound of the short shots but i find myself always worrying that my boot is going to melt on the pipe why they made them drop behind the the foot peg and not in front got me baffled
I think taking it out putting it up in my house is better last longer I can get 4 or 5 years out one but leave it in the garage on a battery tender it won't last 1 season that's a AGM battery
Hey Mate, gidday from a fellow Kiwi living in up state NY. Yeah just got me an intruder 800 for next to nothing, but it has short side cuts with no baffles, so it's pretty efing loud. Still have some ceramic baffle material from when I did up a vintage 1979 Honda Cm400 2 into 1. Was just checking out what other brands guys are using when your vid popped up ! Enjoy life there in God's own , cos I tell you what mate, it's phuking crazy here in the states.
Great jOB! My last two Bikes, I have not installed and aftermarket exhaust i have done exactly what you did. On my 2023 Indian Sport Chief is modified into shortys, is only loud on cold start then the sound changes after reaches normal temperature , i aslo inserted The GP baffle to help with some back pressure.
Hi. Excellent video thanks. I've not seen the inside of the stock baffle so not sure if this is feasible, wondering if you think I can use a very long drill bit and drill through the baffle to get a straight through hole? Regards.
Good to know this can be done. Out here I will risk loosing warranty and honestly I think the V&H mini Grenades will be worth the price. Just got the bike and don't wanna cut up anything.
I sat on the Lowrider S At a bike show and at 5'11 my right knee was resting on the air cleaner. When pressing the brake pedal the air cleaner definitely felt in the way and I had to adjust my foot to properly line up with the pedal. Not ideal in an emergency braking scenario. First thing I would do If I bought this bike would be to change out the air cleaner (the 114 style air cleaner fits the bill) and add forward controls. Then some slip ons
