Tom I love all of your content but this right here is bullshit. Fuck Angie’s dude, you know good and damn well they rip contractors off. Talk about how they send 10 contractors to the same customer at the same time charging crazy prices for jobs. Are they paying you bro lol?
I do not recommend Angie leads at all. The system they have can and will eat your money up and you will have very little amount closing leads if any. How about Houzz?? No body talks about them and how good or not they are at getting leads for contractors! How is everyone’s experience with Houzz?
Hey man, your numbers are all wrong on Angi. You're lucky if you can even get 25% of their leads to pick up the phone. Something's wrong there. They don't have the contractor's best interest at heart. Going all the way back pre Servicemagic to the Improvenet days, things were different. I've gotten the best results on the Nextdoor app. Free
Man thumbtack has been great for me. There is sometimes some bullshit leads but it’s not that many. As long as you can sell and you instantly respond, there’s some pretty decent work on there and you can always make a repeat client out of it.
You're not going to get 50% GP using Thumbtack I can tell you that....because ALL the contractors you talk about not knowing their numbers, are buying these leads.
Not gonna lie I wasn’t a big fan of Angie for the second half of my contract with them, but I do have to say that some of my best and repeat clients have come from Angie’s. We found our real estate investor there, and a few other clients that have referred us a lot. This is making me think I should add this to my marketing strategy…
I always felt bad until I heard Jordan Peterson talk about a patient who all he does is fire people. The patient said he loves it; lol. And Dr Peterson was taking back by this at first but then as the patient spoke he realized why, the patient said, I fire people who are not at the right place for themselves or the company. I’m reminding these people to not seek this type Of employment and in the long run they are better for it if they take my advice. They are completely toxic to the company they are at and need to seek work elsewhere.
Technically it's $4000 a day $4000 x 5 days a week= $20000 $20000 x 50 week's= $1000000 I took 2 weeks out for vacation Also for every holiday I'm sure it's made up by a Saturday.
This doesn't address the fundamentals of gross profit margin, and the net return. You could sell a 100k job at a loss with soaring inflation and shifting cost I would like to see a more detailed breakdown of how he factors his p+l statement. Thank you for the videos
It's ok, the job got done by a team of illegals, and the contractor got a bonus for creating jobs even after the inspector's bribe. Paid the same, only needs to make the sale.
Who starts out with all these documents, that's the problem with developed business trying to develop a developing business not all paper work will be present cause I'm still developing the business
bro hes asking for the most basic shit lol. insurance and w9 is a tax form that everyone has. and he asked for a signature on an agreement. literally everyone has and can produce all this stuff.
Remaining 5 got scared shitless so they turned on their turbo mode. I am betting they looked for another job the very next day where they dont have to work 100 Mph and go home and still will be able to stay awake for dinner.
There is always 1 or 2 who start out being toxic, they quickly turn the rest of the crew into toxic employees if they arent removed or corrected fast enough. Usually when one person turns toxic it is very hard to reverse.
Or there just a bunch of cheapskates. That after the job falls apart in two years they will be trying to convince everyone that a pro will/ could rip me off too..
Great advice, Tom. Numbers are SUPER important to know and track! Random Question: Do you still do contracting, or are you all in on creating content, training, instructing and giving talks now? Either way, YOU ROCK SIR!!
I once took a job as a production manager in a "troubled" firm but had to inherit the workforce including the guy who had the job before me in a different, subordinate role. I wanted to "clean the clock" but management did not want it. I quit after 6 months. A friend then took that job after me & asked what to insist on... i told him to get written authority to fire. I failed in the role, he succeeded... by immediately dismissing the half dozen toxic workers.
