I cut my hair shorter than usual at the beginning of the year. I’ve been trying all kinds of hair styles, but still sort of struggle with loving my hair. I usually always cut it short, but for the first time I had gotten layers with my long hair and I was in love. The short hair cut was impulsive due to study stress (I was studying for the bar exam a second time). My self-esteem went down a lot, but you sharing you were nervous for the short hair and seeing you style it made me feel better. Hi Dani, as someone mentioned, the online color tools are great at grabbing surface tones. I am a professional consultant with almost 20 years of experience and there is much more to an analysis than surface or overtones. Also, ChatGPT only spits out data based on what it is taught, and not all of the information that has been fed to it on color theory and color science is correct. Our hair, skin, and eyes contain multiple colors, so pulling one main color from each is not the full picture. I wish it was as fast and easy as pulling three hex codes and plugging them into an AI database. But, the technology is not there yet. Some results may be correct, but there is much room for error. You seem happy with your results, which is great! It may not work for everyone. 🌻
Unfortunately this is how you find your overtone, not your undertone. For example Sephora would use a machine to analyze your overtone to find foundation. Foundation is the only cosmetic that can be different from your undertone because it should match your skin surface. The rest of your makeup should match your undertone. To find your undertone you need to drape colors around your face to see how your skin reacts. Most people have beige in their skin, which is warm, so Chat GPT will tell most people they are autumns. I had a color analysis done and my result was cool winter, which I totally agree with but using hex codes Chat GPT said I have a warm undertone. Most people should not rely on this method.
