After losing the AFC Title Game, John Madden called it the most frustrating game of his career, as every time a Raider blocked a Dolphin, the hole would be filled by another.
NFL films in the 70's and 80's were fantastic and the music behind them fit so perfectly. This was my favorite and I searched for over 40 years trying to find it.
This is probably my all-time favorite piece used by NFL Films. It conveys such wonder, grandeur, and, well, adventure to me. Shoutout to Dave Volsky for IDing this track. I had been seeking the name of it for a very long time (I even emailed NFL Films' music director back when I was in high school [she replied, but was unable to find what I was seeking]). When I clicked on his video for it and heard it, I was overjoyed. Love you, big Dave.
This piece was also used on Sesame Street in two film segments, one of kids waiting in line at a movie theater (demonstrating 'beginning' and 'end') and one of a man looking for a stolen bathtub.
Wasn't around for this era but man the old school fields are awesome, having weather conditions affect the style of play, having guys sliding five yards down the field because they're playing in a lagoon is so sick. Having this random factor to have to adapt to on the spot just gives football an extra layer of toughness to the game IMO, I would watch way more football if stuff like this still happened.
