Just wanted to drop a comment and say this was a super video! My personal favourites where the Class 37's and the Black 5 at the end - any idea where that'd been or where it was going? Is Crewe a good station for spotting? Nice to see an 08 in mainline usage as well, a rare treat!
Like going back in time - except for the vegetation! Parts of Crewe station are beginning to resemble a garden centre. The EE Types 3 and 4 look fine in the green livery. Neither ever suited blue. Scots Guardsman sounds good and smooth running.
One of those locos but I don't think it's that one you've filmed, used to be called Red Dragon and for a while was based on my home patch at Lakeside Miniature Railway in Southport & then it later went to Windmill Farm in Burscough.
Stockport is in the Manchester area in the north west of England 🏴. The reason there are plenty of railway 🚃 tracks at Stockport, because plenty of trains 🚂 🚂 🚊 🚊 🚆 🚆 operate in the Stockport area. Most trains 🚊 don’t stop 🛑 at Stockport when they run 🏃 via Stockport. Perhaps 🤔 a busy railway 🚃 station 🚉. 👍👍👍
Passed through Crewe station in January for the first time in 30 years, on the way to / from the Battle of Nantwich re-enactment. Surprising how little the station has changed in this time although it will probably see some rebuilding for HS2. I hope the HS2 led redevelopment maintains the listed building's character & appearance. I like how the proposals for Birmingham are centred on the site of the city's first railway station at Curzon Street. I'll probably take some photos of Crewe station on the way to / from Nantwich if I've got time spare before the hourly train service back to Derby. It would make sense to build 2 new platforms on the avoiding lines for the Manchester / Liverpool - Wales trains so they don't have to cross the West Coast Main Line on the level. In addition, I think the Stoke on Trent / Crewe area would suit an intermodal hub, perhaps at the former Shelton Steelworks as the dual carriageway and railway line are alongside at this point, it would also create jobs in an economically disadvantaged area. Although not directly linked with HS2, any proposals for a railfreight hub in the Stoke on Trent / Crewe area would use released capacity on the West Coast Main Line. If the Shelton Steelworks site is chosen then northbound trains could use the Kidsgrove - Crewe line to join the WCML at Crewe.
