We are the Boston family (Rusty, Ursula & Lotus) We have a dream lifestyle of living on Fraser Island. in the remote community of Orchid Beach for over 20 years - With our combined knowledge and experience of the island we will give you an insight into all things about Fraser.
Nah man I've been a few times and ive only seen a few, still you should google what to do if you see one, especially if you have kids around. I think you just have to look big and yell but make sure to do research.
Thank you for the vid it has been thorough and most helpful for first timers like us, we are leaving for Cape York on the 2nd of August from Melbourne our son and family joining us stopping over at Hamilton island and Fraser island for 3 days each before heading up to do the Telegraph track.
Thanks for all your great videos. Informative and scenic. As a Sydney-sider I hope to make it up one day. And congrats on the even better production/sound quality of this video.
Another interesting video you've made. I'll keep ocean lake in mind for next time. We were there last July and your other videos were very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for the info, it might be a stupid question but i'm heading out to fraser next month and wondering if this drive is doable on high tide? If not, are there inland tracks or by pass routes we could take to get there? We have 3 days on the island and are trying to plan our days around the tides and it's proving difficult.
Great to hear your planning a trip. Personally I would not recommend driving a High tide. Depending on how high the high is sometimes you could be pushed up into the soft sand near the banks. This is not pleasant, it can be dangerous and it's a strain on your vehicle engine. There is rocky bypass that sometimes need to be used on aow tide. I would plan to drive only 2 hours before and 2 hours after low or stay at a place of interest all day waiting to travel on that incoming low tide...hope this helps. Travel safe.
We are off to cathedrals next week. There website says 1.5 hours from inskip. You mentioned about 2.5hours in this video. What would be the actual time? Cheers guys.
Hello...our favourite swimming spot on Fraser for sure...it's always open unless scheduled for boardwalk maintainence...but you can still swim at little Eli down the beach further...happy travels
Hey mate, generally never travel beach on high tide and avoid the salt water like the plague. Want to keep my truck rust free. But if I have to cross sea water always walk it and look for submerged holes, rocks, etc. ....hope that's what you were getting at with question ...cheers
it's still okay to go to Eli Creek right? my mum thought it had been closed for some reason, but this video is only from a year ago so that must means there are no problems right?
Hey Lindsay...rhere is no one officially but the locals around Orchid Beach are friendly enough and Sometimes a donation will get you in the water....Good luck 👌
Kayaks are great for use at Wathumba creek Ocean Lake and Lake Makenzie. It's a fair hike between spots but I feel if it's something you love to do , just do it so no regrets....Enjoy
Hey Steve...General rule is Inskip Barge ticket price is only a return. However the barges at River Heads can be booked one way but you can't then return on the Inskip Barge. So beadically whatever Barge you book to come over on is the one you return on....cheers
thanks for this, one thing i wanted to know was IF you get caught on the tide or close too, can you just jump onto the inland tracks?? or is there only certain points you can cross from road to beach.
Love your videos mate, really helping me out with planning my trip for the end of this year. Already recommended you to people who are doing the same thing
