When people are in the line up whether on a board or a ski there seems to be this hive mind effect where in a moment people just do what everyone else does....it's interesting. So many of them should have turned back in instead of trying to beat the set out. Crazy.
The Positive Comment: Glad to hear no one died. The Negative Comment: Really? One person/surfer/ski/boat or whatever it was had a clue, Wayyyy out the back!
This explains the situation much better than the close-up news view. Maybe these Jet-Skiers need headset walkie-talkies so they can communicate between them or maybe someone with this drone that saw these waves (set) coming could have given them advanced warning. -Either way they should have rode away from these waves and not over them. Worst case is having a 1000lb ski coming off a wave and hitting someone.
As Pie below states in his remarks....if you surf you know the feeling of seeing that dark set of lines coming and you say " I thought I was out far enough"....have to keep the verbal cool but you get it! Havent been in the NS stuff but had my share of "oh _ _ _ _"
I feel for the injured guys , luck with your recovery, but after a few views it looks like the ski guys were sat around chatting and were caught out - nobody was focused on what was happening offshore
