Man, I’ve been watching a lot of samurai film and this one is damn near the top of the list. I will have to recommend you my favorite Sam film so far which is ‘The Twilight Samurai’. All props to this movie but Twilight Samurai is one potent film. Amazing movie though!
Radley Metzger is somewhat the 'Orsen Wells' of Soft Core. If you appreciate creative filmmaking, along with TRULY witty and funny dialog, then this film 9and the director as a whole) is a real surprise I unearthed. "Am I high yet??"......"I don't THINK so!". LOL!
Dracula, hands down, but Badham's 1979 Universal. While Lugosi inarguably sets the cinematic model, it is Langella who's the ultimate magnetic seducer.
If there is still time to enter my favorite monster is Dracula. My grandpa got my into the monster movies before he passed. We would always watch the Abbott and Costello meet monster movies.
First! Sounds like an intense film! Don’t know if I would want to watch it with the SA focus. I get that it is integral to the story as the driving force that develops the character. I just can’t stomach those kinds of scenes. So I will have to enjoy it vicariously via your review! Thank you!!
Those last 17m of the film should've been a whole hour of it, with the story moving somewhere past that. It's a technically good film with so much mood rolling forward from it. But if we're talking Eggers, it's all about The Northman, which is far and away the second best Viking film ever made, and the one with the most historical integrity behind it.
The film was a slow burn for sure, but I get that it had to “ramp up” the way it did. But you are not wrong that once the madness of the lasts twenty minutes kicks in the film would’ve grabbed people by the throat of it had continued with the ongoing story of Black Phillip and the destruction that he caused. I still need to see The Northmen. You seem to have given it a glowing recommendation, yet it is number two in your book, so I ask, what film is number one?
The 13th Warrior. Certainly the best amplification of Beowulf, such great characters, peak Banderas, Sharif's last role, great action, awesome Holmgangr dueling scene, and the adaptation of using Ibn Fadlan's account of the Viking burial. It's so one of those few that're better than the book, but then again Crichton didn't really write books, he wrote thick treatments to market as screenplays.
No love for the cuteness that is Samantha Mathis? 🎉❤ And this had to be shot in 1989 before its later release, so in spirit technically one of the last teen '80s films, yah? Or was it shot early 1990? I think either way it had to have at least been written in the '80s.

Since Kubrick's Lolita came out in 1962, is this possibly a later viewpoint from the girl's perspective in a cinematic context? And do the extras mention age of consent in Sweden at that time? Also, how old was the actress?
@Chris I appreciate the comment. I have just found these 1970’s adult orientated films from Cult Epics and I have been having a blast watching them and giving my hot takes on these films. I feel that these pictures must be purchased, preserved, watched, and critiqued upon, or else they may be lost to time.
Love that plastic Sillah you got in the background. But seriously, I really do enjoy Creepshow. And yes, the first movie is the best and the second is watchable. From that point on it just goes downhill. You forgot to mention Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie, Nielsen, and Patty Duke.
@Andrew Creepshow is a classic. A trifecta of talent w/ Romero, King, and Savini. Star-studded cast all around. The 4K looks gorgeous and there is so many special features is insane. Also, the Lionsgate Steelbook is a sight to behold. All in all, I am glad I picked it up.

Does its unexpectedly comedic approach actually present insight to the real world tragedy these incidents incur, or is it just a send up at the expense of that? And if the latter, how farcical does it get? Like, Lampoon or Troma level?
Just saw, "Cat Of Nine Tails" and man am I blown away. You probably have seen it too, but if not, then you MUST (not up for debate) watch it ASAP! A bit of trivia: In the movie Fulci is referred to as, "Mr. Lucio", and its pronounced with only two syllables - Lu (as in lucy) Cho (as in chosen) for "lucho". I think the "i" in Lucio is ommitted, but maybe im wrong.
I have seen Cat O’ Nine Tails and I enjoyed it. The 4K transfer from Arrow is amazing. A pretty great gallo if I say so. I pronoun it “Full-chi”, because that is how I have always heard it said, but it could be pronounced how you described as well. Either way, great film from a spectacular Director!
Hi Walter, that symbol is called a pentagon and the story of the two junkies was a little sad. Pentagon was filmed in the 1990's. I know this because I was named "Cailin" (but have legally changed my name since) and I stopped using heroin soon after the segment of Symbolicus was fimed but my boyfriend at the time (Dustin McCune) continued to use heroin so I decided that I had to cut him out of my life. Dustin died, from an overdose, eleven years ago. Marcus Koch has no creative writing skills and claims to have filmed Symbolicus during the Pandemic, in 2020. You seem like a nice guy so I'll tell you more. Remember how I just told you that Marcus Koch has no writing talent? Well, he didn't write Rot, either. Anyway, I filed a report about Symbolicus with the FBI and I'm praying for the day it's removed from the market due to Marcus's use of the footage without permission. The happy side to the story of the two junkies is that I have a wonderful life, in California, now, and I know the truth will come to light, without me having to admit any part in underground horror films.
