My guess is that the wrench was originally made with the sizes stamped on the forging process and someone adapted both ends for a size he would need afterwards. Great job, man!! Warm regrads from Mexico; Merry Christmas to all of you.

Nice, very nice restoration. I saw that you hardened the tool, but did you temper it? Hardening makes metal brittle, annealing makes metal malleable, tempering bridges the "too soft" to the too hard" to the tool is "just right."

Gastas muchísima agua para una herramienta pequeña. Deberías usar poca agua!!!

My father had one of those, his was a Stanley I think and with a reddish brown handle but exactly the same design.

What wood is the handle from?

Is that hole on it, originally? It seems someone did it afterwards.

Absolutely beautiful restoration! I could really tell the love free grandfather that was put into the restoration of this. The video quality was outstanding. My husband and I are starting to restore some of his grandfather's tools as well so it should be interesting. I can only hope we do half as well as you did!

I am always amazed how much WD40 people simply waste .. I use it in liquid form (canister) and with a small brush!

I did a wrench restoration and know how much your hand hurts after that lol - great job and again nice that you are saving tools your granddad had for next generations.

That design was interesting, to have a screw holding the handle in is unusual. Saving your ancestors tool is something to treasure - great job!

Excellent! The wall anchor in the handle so you could chuck it in the drill was genius! Love the official presentation gloves at the end. Nice touch. I’m looking forward to more videos like this in the future. Take care 😃👍🏼

Great job on the wrench! The reason the sizes don’t make sense is because they are based on the antiquated British Whitworth system. The size stamped on the jaw refers to the size of the bolt shank instead of the across-the-flat (A/F) measurements of the bolt head or nut.

This wrench also can be made for antique square nuts.

It is nothing particularly special, nor valuable, but it is a treasure worth so much more than that, to be reminded of your Grandfather, every time you pick it up and use it. I have an old pipe smokers tool in a leather case that belonged to my Grandfather, that I restored and still use. It is worth nothing, but it always sets my mind on him when I use it. Lovely restoration my friend, may it give you happy memories.
