I discovered your art work by accident and I like your style. I took up painting in 2015. It is not so much values and colours that bother me greatly it is getting proportions right! I have to say getting proportions right is the hardest for me to do. I end up doing too many precise measuring with my paintbrush - corner of eye to the other corner of eye; to the other eye; eyebrow to eye line etc. - that I lose the 'flow' because I am a perfectionist and I need to make sure the proportions are accurate and I have caught the right expression. What method or practice do you recommend I do in order to get proportions right in a painting? What method do you use? Or is it just practice and practice? Then again, when practicing, what method are you following or do you just do a quick few lines saying these are where I think the eye brows should be then, the nose, mouth etc. Sorry for this rant, but I do admire your work. Thanks. It is best to stand 2M away and judge your proportions from there, have the sitter or photo right next to your drawing, it is easier to spot the differences. You will see your errors and take note of them to guard against them. Draw first measure second, helps train the eye. after long periods you can get blind to your errors. Another tip from Leonardo da vinci, lookat your subject and your sitter in a mirror, gives you a fresh way of seeing drawing faults
I know... I came late to the scene. I just discovered Aldo Balding today by accident on the internet. I was looking at the work of another artist and one of Aldo Balding's paintings caught my eye. I looked him up and discovered his work. I love his brush work and style.
can anybody help me, i got bob ross oil to paint. does oil take a day or so to dry??? anybody? also what is brand of paint is best for face portraits? and acrylic or oils?
