Tom, what a wonderful hike! I admire what you have achieved, how you did it and the beautiful way you captured and presented the journey 👏👏 I have just returned from Portugal after completing a similar journey which I did in two parts - Lisbon to Caminha (2022) and Lisbon to Lagos (2024). Woah, dude! That trip was legit fire I inhaled both your vids like pizza, and the shots were killer too! Just one heads-up for future adventures: ditch the black fade transition, it kinda throws off the vibe. Fade to white or keep it rolling smooth, ya know? Keep crushing it!

did you check for warnings in croatia and montenegro regarding stepping off the road? some areas still have a landmine problem from the war.

@@tomcrown_adventure when I wrote that comment I hadn’t watched the video yet and I thought it was a 650cc. The fact it was a 250cc and with minimal gear makes you that much more of a beast. RESPECT 🤝

Thank you! Very difficult to say, but the kaluts in the lut desert of Iran and the mountains of north Pakistan were definitely far different from anything I had seen :)

As far as I understand, I would be required to cover my hair even as a tourist, right? This makes me quite uncomfortable, and I don't think I could adhere to this requirement.

I speak Portuguese, English and some half-decent Spanish. I carried travel cards that convert the currencies for ok rates. But for example in Iran international cards don't work. So cash and bargaining rates was the way :)

Amazing. How was the gas mileage for a 30 year old bike? Did you ever have issues finding gas stations driving through remote areas?

She could do around 270km (168 miles) with a full tank, depending on the roads! There were some places where gas stations were quite spread out but I still made it.

The bike is somewhere in a cargo ship right now. I took a flight. I'm legally obligated to bring the bike back, in order to get the deposit I made for specific paperwork. Otherwise, I would probably have sold her there :)

Cool video man, came here from Reddit. So what made you ride to India and not some place else for example. Is that your longest ride and any plans on another trip. What’s the condition of your bike now and is it still operational. What was the best part of your trip and how did/do you get back.

I wasn't sure how far I would go, but I knew I could not go further than India, due to political and budget reasions. (Mynamar is closed due to the war, and going through china is too expensive due to special burocracy) Not sure about a next trip, also dont know how the bike is yet!

Thank you! Looking back I would probably have taken some legit riding boots that isolate the water, and some better gloves for the same purpose. Often at high altitudes, the cold/humidity combo would leave me numb. (I would ask for hot tea at gas stations to warm up the fingers)

I tended to drive between natural areas (scouting for them in gps app). In some countries it was very easy to find spots randomly, since there was huge non-urban/non-farmed areas.

Some issues with the engine starter but it got fixed. The front broke but was then welded. Chain was to worn so got replaced. Nothing truly problematic :)
