In the 80's Steve Kimock and John Cipollina were in a band called Zero. There is a video of when Jerry Garcia was a guest and when he played 'Good Night Irene' Kimock and Cipollina sat down and when Jerry would just shred he turned to face them as he showed off.

Steve Kimock has been in quite a few bands over the years, his first major group was called ZERO. He also spent some time in Phil Lesh and Friends, and some other Grateful Dead related groups. He is currently sporting a big beard and grey hair, and is playing with his son, Drummer John Morgan Kimock in the Otiel Burbage and Friends Band. Steve is a native of Bethlehem, Pa. my residence since 1985, and dated the sister of one of my buddies when he was in high school here, so consequently I have met him quite a few times, and have seen him perform around town many times. He is always excellent, just like here. Thanks for the request Sam.

Great reaction! If you liked that solo, check out mother Mary on the same live album. It’s shorter than Rock Bottom, but the solos are amazing!

I really like the Beth/Slash combo, while she collaborates with a lot of great talents, for some reason, Slash and her fit really well, she had to hold back with Joe. She and Slash are down and dirty and they just seem to fit. I hope they do SOOOOOO much more in the future. He is a rocker with the blues, she is the blues with a side of rock, they really click.

I just saw Christone last night in Clearwater doing the Hendrix Experience Tour. He crushed his moments on stage because he was born to play guitar! His talent just flows from him.

Love how John said at the end that he got more of a kick out of that then the crowd did. He just loves to sing and he is respectful and in awe of other artists. Such a humble guy. Even with his astounding talent. That's why us Aussies love him. Hopefully the more videos of John you watch, you will start to see his personality come through. The voice, the stage presence and his beautiful humble and down to earth personality will make you want more. Even after 50+ years in the industry, he is still such a great guy. The kind you could sit down and have a beer with like he was an old mate. One of a kind I tell ya.

I remember hearing Eric Clapton's studio version on the radio first, then hearing the Bob Marley original and going, WOW. Clapton is very good at interpreting other writers songs, and Mr. Marley sure can write them. And sing them too. Of course, this version is new to me too.

Of course I knew!. I heard it the day it came out! . But as you know..I'm a huge Beth Fan.. I told you a long time ago that I loved your recaps of songs. The last time I commented was when You did the recap of Walter Trout and Beth ..doing Broken. I went to see Beth in Nashville a few weeks ago. It was my first time. I'm from Upstate SC and now the road I40 is gone that we took to Nashville!. There is noone like Beth. Love this by Slash and Beth... Keep the expressions up . Love them!

Prince was and is a horse's ass. First this solo was not improvised. He had worked this solo out for several days if not weeks. This is was not improv as evidenced by his people ready to assist him during the solo. The guitar was thrown up to one of his assistants. Nor was this solo done to get back at the other guitarist playing Clapton's solo perfectly note for note who allegedly wouldn't let Prince play. The other guy was a pro studio hire and would never have stepped on Prince's toes. This is typical Prince PR crap. BTW many professional musician's can play "everything". I take nothing away from Prince as a pop song writer. He wrote several great tunes but he was not the world's greatest guitarist nor songwriter. This solo is a flashy series of licks that anyone with little practice could perform and Prince should have had the common sense to not to hot dog all over the stage at someone's else tribute. But that was Prince, a great musician songwriter and an incredible douche. A tiny little man with a big chip. Why do you think he wound up dead alone in his house in an elevator where he lay for over 6 hours before being found. No one bothered to even look for him bc no one on his staff could stand him.

He played his '61 Stratocaster from 15 years old to 45 years old (1965 - 1995) when he passed. You can hear he became the guitar!

I'm just now discovering the full extent of Prince's talent. After Purple Rain, he fell off the radar for me. So, 40 years later I'm rediscovering him and hating myself for the missed opportunities of seeing him live because he has transitioned. Prince to me is the greatest artist because his catalog includes everything from rock to folk, r&b, hip hop, blues and jazz. You don’t see this from other artist who are touted for being greats. They sing one genre and don't play instruments. Prince can do some of it all and does it with excellency. RIP brother.

Definitely from the same tapes as the original, just a little different in the "Sunshine Daydream" section, but with Jerry a little more forward, a nice touch. "Sugar Magnolia" is a Grateful Dead song, "Steel Magnolias" IS a "Chick Flick". LOL. Good find Sam.

It is necessary to see Wooten live (on video) or you might have no clue that it's even a solo. His bass solos can take the form of duets with some other instruments :)

Man, that was really cool watching you experience that song for the 1st time! So in the early summer of 1992 I saw a show called The Horde Tour at the Garden State Arts Center in Jersey. The lineup was Col Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Widespread Panic, Spin Doctors, Phish and Blues Traveler. I had only ever heard Blues Traveler before and the show blew me away. Later that summer, I went to the Mann in Philly to see the Horde again and was bitterly disappointed to find out that Phish was being replaced by a band I'd never heard of...that's right, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones! Needless to say, my disappointment quickly evaporated and I've been a fan ever since!

Bela Fleck in an astounding stringed instrument player, primarily Banjo. He has his own band, The Flecktones, featured here, and he also has many collaborations with many, many other artists. I have heard a few of his songs, but i have never had the opportunity to see him live, unfortunately, but I hope to do so in the future.

Do you think this is the last time mankind felt positive about its future? Now all such exploration and pushing boundaries is criticised as not addressing issues of justice and environment.
