They really managed to make this scene scary. I mean it is gas we as humans use on a regular basis, but that hissing sound they added feels way more terrifying.
Cornelius: Abigail, your performance out there could’ve cost us our lives. And as for the rest of you, in all my years I’ve never had the more undisciplined furlings.
Memories tend to warp with time, but it is shocking to me how terrifying this still is to me as an adult. The music, the intensity of the scene from a hidden, invisible killer. A force that can't be reasoned with, and only takes. Carbon monoxide or sulfuric gas is frightening in that regard. You don't know it's there until you already feel the effects. And by then, it's over.
I remember this 1993 British-American animated film. I used to watch it on the VHS when I was a tot. It might be one of the most underrated animated films of all time. I still like it though.
2:17 POV: you check bro’s bathroom to see if he is okay only to see that he is not. (He had the biggest mudslide after he had the triple XXXXXL burrito.)
This was definitely a little dark for a kids film…but then again there was Lion King…actually the just the 90’s in general. Maybe that’s why I need help😂
I’m 31 years old and I will not forget watching this when I was a kid. like the gas in this one is just yeah disturbing as hell. the prime example of death what I can do especially what happened to Michelle’s Parents I mean yeah I did not expect to see them dead. I assumed they were just sleeping but nope they were dead. It’s hard to pretend that when you’re young. But at the very least I’ll say this we can all agree. It’s a good thing despite Abigail being reckless from times we’re grateful she did not listen to Cornelius. I mean yeah for once I’m glad you didn’t listen to me I mean honestly yeah. If I was in her situation, if anyone I knew was in a situation like this, I would’ve done anything in my power to go and save their lives. Waiting on help there’s no time for that. Still yeah if I were in her shoes yeah I would do it all over again without hesitation, I would Abigail definitely is the perfect definition heroine
We are the same age. I loved this movie as a child. It's a shame it doesn't get the same attention as other 90s animated films. Abigail was my favourite character.
I'm a 2010 kid, but my family has a lot of VHS tapes and this movie was one of my absolute favorites when I was little. Looking back, I think this may be what inspired my horror obsession

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Now I’m 25 with a toddler and rewatching this scene with Michelle almost dying from the gas and trying to find her parents brings me to tears. She reminds me of my little daughter.
Questions: 1. How did the gas get into the tree? The truck fell off the side of the road, nowhere near the tree. 2. How did Cornelius know about the gas. 3. How did Abigail survive, but not her parents?
Answers 1.The gas tank broke so the gas spread everywhere. 2.Cornelius knew about it because the same thing happened to his parents when he was Michelle's age. 3.(I think you mean Michelle, Abigail is the mouse, Michelle is the little badger cub) I think her parents died because they were in the house and could not escape in time therefore the fumes knocked them out and killed them but Michelle has only been in there for a second so she survived.
@@eleanorhogan8643 And how did it stay inside the tree while the rest of the gas disappeared? And why did the parents die? Couldn’t they have seen the gas coming or have been given a warning by the other creatures?
@@yerielurena1873 Hmmm a bit of a plot hole with the gas staying inside the tree but I do think Michelle's parents could have been knocked out with the gas therefore not being able to escape, it probably took them by surprise.
I didn't really grow up with this movie, never watched it from start to finish, but I distinctly remember seeing this scene very briefly and I knew instantly that her parents were almost certainly dead.
Anyone who saw this as a kid grew up with tough skin. Our generation had some dark cartoons so we didn't get easily triggered. Now god forbid someone white voices a dark skin character, everyone freaks out and depends they get canceled.
